this is a great little spatula. I laughed at it's size when I first got it but I have to say I'm laughing now because it's GREAT! perfect for my teenie mess kit and flips my 4 inch pancakes GREAT!! stiff enough to pick stuff up that is reasonably heavy yet pliable to get into the smallest mess kits (and we know those can be SMALL!) the only thing I would change would be to make the handle a little fatter so it'd be more easy to maneuver around the pan.

We took this spatula on a recent backpacking trip to the rockies at our camp at 10,600 ft. After cooking just the first pancake, it melted. I couldn't believe it. I've made pancakes for years on a small backpacking stove and have never seen this. Luckily, I had brought am older plastic spatula/knife combo that I've used for eating and used it to turn the remaining pancakes over.

You won't die in the woods for lack of a mini-spatula, but you might be happy you have it if you have it.

My kid & and camp together (just 2 people with small pot/pan); he bought this and we've actually used it. We've found the mini-spatula convenient for flipping Spam AND for cleaning/scraping dishes (because it has a straight surface, which your spork does not).

It also won't scratch non-stick surface, like my kids Ti spork would. :)

It's inexpensive, so I say 5 stars and try one for fun.

At only 0.3 oz (not 3.2 oz per REI specs) this utensil is an excellent design if you are willing to bend your ultralight backpacking standards just a smidge and cook pancakes or such. The design is successful because of the just stiff enough shovel combined with a flexible handle. Apparently it is made of nylon 6/6 heat resistant 200C, yet as with any ultralight gear, thoughtful use is best. To save weight the shovel is narrow, so a little practice makes perfect.

I use this with my snow peak mini cook set for backpacking and it does the job! No wieght to it, easy to clean, can't get more compact. It is nice to have something that actually fits into the small fry pan etc. For such a small item, low price, you simply will be glad you purchased it. For an extra ounce of weight, well worth it!!!
