Comments about REI Trail Chair:

So I bought my first Crazy Creek chair in 1993 and it lasted me until last year when the fabric finally wore out around the stays. I decided that i would replace my chair with the REI brand since i have had such great luck with their brand products in the past. The first chair i bought ripped out at the straps on my first use, the second proceeded to do this with my wife, and the third with me over the weekend. After shaking my head in disbelief i have come to the opinion that REI is simply selling a bad product under their name. I will be returning the third and going back to Crazy Creek. FYI my wife and i are not big people (she is sub 150) and I am sub 180.

Comments about REI Trail Chair:

We bought two of these and that same night one of them broke. Just ripped out at the seem where the nylon straps attach to the back when sitting around the camp fire. I'm a pretty small person so I was surprised to find it that delicate. I was very disappointed with this REI product and would not recommend it.

Comments about REI Trail Chair:

I purchased three of these. The first time we used them, one of them tore loose where the strap attaches to the chair. I returned for an exchange. The 2nd time I used one of the others, the plastic stay poked through the fabric at the seat. I bought one for a friend, the 2nd time she used it, the strap also tore loose. I would not purchase this item again.

Comments about REI Trail Chair:

This seat fell apart after a month of use. The seams ripped and the padding wasn't much. The other people I was with had Crazy Creek chairs, and their seats held up while this one didn't.

    Comments about REI Trail Chair:

Very surprised to see the bad reviews on this REI product. I have the extended version and couldn't be happier with it. I've taken mine on several trips - last one to Assateague Island - and not only is it easy to pack but a comfort. The mesh pocket is great and comes in handy. Several friends have even borrowed it and had no problems. Some of them are big guys (190#+, 6'+) and the chair is still in perfect shape. Sorry to hear the bad experiences. Hope REI has listen to them and implemented a bit of quality control.

      Comments about REI Trail Chair:

went on a 5 day Paria Canyon trip, the first night the chair was used, the strap/chair connection ripped. my partners had crazy creek chairs, i noticed the nylon piece that connects to the strap is continuous with the seat, not sewn together and much stronger. i will exchange this chair for crazy creek.

        Comments about REI Trail Chair:

Used the extended length version this product on a recent backpacking trip to Desolation Wilderness. Packed easily on the outside of my pack, provided fine back support in camp after a long day of hiking. When I was ready to turn in, it served as more pad under my sack. This chair was one of the small pleasures I allowed in my pack. Will take it out again.

          Comments about REI Trail Chair:

You can use this at Mariner and Seahawks games, when you have to sat on some of the benches in some of the sitting area. You also can use it to watch the kids play sports. I would use it for that and when I go camping and hikes.

          Comments about REI Trail Chair:

Bought two chairs and found them very comfortable. However, after only two camping trips the stitching ripped out where the straps are attached to the back on -both- chairs. A much more robust atach point is needed.

            Comments about REI Trail Chair:

I had looked at these chairs in the past and didnt like the stap design. A few months later, I noticed that REI had re engineered them so the straps attached directly to the chair, and not to a flimsy cloth junction. I have used a few times and scrutinize the chair after every use due to the poor reviews received in the past, havent seen any of the problems mentioned yet. [...] I am taking much more of a liking to REI products, and am glad to give the benefit of the doubt or consider any bad products a part of "r&d" work.
