Comments about REI Camp Table XL:

I got this specifically for a camping trip to White Pocket, AZ. We were tight on space and needed to bring roll up tables only. It is pricey but I was lucky enough to get it for the Spring sale at 20% off. It sets up in minutes and is very sturdy. However, after two uses, I noticed that one of the slats had a slight bend in it. I do not know how this happened. A companion may have leaned on it, who knows. It doesn't hurt the functionality, however. It folds up easily and packs tightly into the provided bag. One thing I would recommend to new buyers. Pay attention to how it is packed! I pulled mine out, ripped off the wrapping and set it up. I made no mental note of how it was folded or put away. There is no documentation at all, so you have to figure it out on your own. For anyone who needs a large car camping table that is compact when put away, this is it. I wouldn't want to carry it too far as it is rather heavy.

I use this as an outdoor table at my house. It was extremely easy to set up and adjust, and it looks terrific.

    It's a tremendous value.

Comments about REI Camp Table XL:

I recently put this table through a rough mule trip, and it did not do very well. Surprisingly, even though it was dropped a few times, none of the metal parts bent, and it was (barely) usable the whole time. However, the weak link is the fact that the base of the table consists of aluminum ties that are linked together with elastic string. With any vibration or movement, the sharp edges on the aluminum ties cut through the elastic that holds them together, and the table becomes much less usable when the elastic (and the spacer rings on the elastic) is gone. I think any sort of rough travel (rafting, bad roads) might cause the same problems.

I much prefer the roll-up tables as they are more robust, but for weekend picnics and car-camping this table works fine. One person can set it up in about 5 minutes.

Comments about REI Camp Table XL:

This table is very stable and comfortable to use, and looks great. I have had a Camp Time Roll-a-table for years, and in comparison, this is much nicer looking. However, given its construction I really doubt that it will last very long. It is all-aluminum, so will bend and dent easily. The panels snap together with plastic snaps, which I worry will break. There are many sharp edges to be careful of when assembling.

I need a table of this size, and I have only had this table for a few days, but I worry that the basic design is not appropriate for rough use in the field.

Comments about REI Camp Table XL:

This table is just about perfect for truck / car camping. Large size, quite sturdy, lightweight. Fits a portable Weber grill and all sorts of cookware / gear with ease. With room left to seat 2 or 3.

However it has one serious design flaw. The aluminum used is strong and lightweight but it is quite easy to ding one of the ends and leave a VERY sharp protruding piece of metal that will slice you open real quick.

Once set up it's great and can handle some abuse. But in the carry case or while setting it up use caution.

Comments about REI Camp Table XL:

Sturdy, well constructed, and ample in size. This is the third folding roll top table I have owned and the best yet. The frame is constructed much like a cot and very strong. I like that way it is put together in general. The built in leveling foot is a nice touch. And with the aluminum top using a stove has proven to be no sweet. The only really draw back is the plastic connector parts. The last table I had was smaller and designed much like the REI Camp Roll Table. I found the legs to be weak and unstable. It was also to small to put a 2 burner stove on and have a prep area. If you need a good camp cook table, game table, picnic table, or an extra table for family functions this is a good way to go.

Comments about REI Camp Table XL:

One of my tailgate buddies showed up with this table for a game over a year ago. Thing is perfect for tailgating. Sturdy enough to use for a grill stand. We've been trying to scale down the size and amount of equipment we bring to the the games for years, and this works great. Folds up nicely, packs away easy, cleans up good, very easy to setup. Only gripe has been mentioned, the plastic tabs. Hopefully they stand up to the abuse we put them through. Like it so much, I'm ordering one to have on hand for myself.

Comments about REI Camp Table XL:

This table is huge - which is great, but aside from that I can't find another thing I really liked about it. It set up fairly easily, but handling the roll up tops may leave you needing stitches in your hands. Getting the pieces back in the back without tearing the bag was also a challenge because of the razor sharp edges. It was too long when packed into its carry bag to fit compactly into my Toyota FJ, and too heavy to carry more than a hundred yards. I returned it for a smaller, lighter, more compact model. This thing is about 6 feet tall in it's bag! Very unwieldy. If you are looking for a very large table that doesn't have to be toted too far, and can be left set up more often than down, this is probably a great table.

Comments about REI Camp Table XL:

Set this table up in our REI Sun Screen for an added surface for kitchen gear. It was perfect and gave us a stable surface for what we needed. Easy to set up and has an adjustable leg but we did not need to adjust it. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I'm concerned about the plastic tabs that hold the top to the frame, if they break off then no more secure table. Time will tell.

Comments about REI Camp Table XL:

I lucked out and picked this item up from an REI garage sale. We have friends over a lot and I will be using to set up with food on. It was easy to set up. I did by myself in maybe ten minutes. It has plenty of space as its almost as big as my dining table! I agree with others and I wouldn't want to carry it for too far. Maybe half hour and that's about tops! It's about six feet long and the strap isn't padded so that would be the reason there. Overall a good item and I'm glad I grabbed. Will also be great for rural camping or large campsite groups when you just need a bit more space for cooking etc than the one picnic table on site!
