Comments about Eagle Creek ORV Trunk - 30'':
I purchased this and the REI Tech Beast Rolling Duffel. I carefully compared both and returned the Eagle Creek 30" ORV. See my review of the REI Tech Breast Rolling Duffel for a comparison of both. I would also add that Eagle Creek customer service is the worst ever. They could not even supply the internal dimensions for their own product. They refused to do so. Finally they said they would call me back with the info and never did.

I've used this on four major trips, including South Africa, Mexico, Hawaii, etc. After my fourth trip, the retractable handle became inoperable. It wouldn't "retract". However, the bag overall is well designed and the materials are very solid. After these trips, the bag itself was still in great condition.
I really doubt the retractable handle problem is pervasive. I plan to repurchase the same item, since it has been a dependable and reliable piece of travel gear. I've had more expensive rolling duffles such as TUMI (twice) and while they're twice as expensive, I've had to return the Tumi's twice due to breakage problems as well. Relatively speaking, the Eagle Ck. bags have performed well.

With 2 kids, this larger bag is invaluable. We use this bag for week long trips and it is no problem. The quality and styling is unmatched. Another great bag from Eagle Creek.

Comments about Eagle Creek ORV Trunk - 30'':
I'm a pretty serious road-warrior type, traveling constantly and usually for 2+ weeks at a time. This bag has been stellar for the past year, and after using typical luggage in the $100-200 range for the previous 36 years of my life, I'm glad I sprung[$] for it, though it seemed a bit excessive at the time.Overall, the construction is very solid. I've had a couple of small screws loosen up lately on the handle, but that's easily fixed with an allen wrench. Not sure why they didn't use some kind of adhesive on the screws, but they didn't. That's the only thing I really have to complain about.A few things I really like:- rolls easily and feels light and very maneuverable...the wheels and axles are a major upgrade from most roller suitcases- very light...with my old bags I used to go over the 50 lb limit all the time...with this bag, i've found that packing it to the gills gets me to just under 50 pounds. in fact my last trip, it was EXACTLY 50 lbs. i don't know if this was part of their design, but hey, it's working for me. i've already paid for the bag in avoiding overweight fees.- the top compartment comes off, so if you ARE overweight, you can zip it right off...or you can just go on a trip with 1 of the 2 sides...great for short trips. The top compartment has a shoulder strap that allows you to carry it freely.- nice outside pocket at the top of the bag for the shoulder strap or incedentals– compression straps help you pack down everything for a smaller profile- interior organizer walls on the top compartment are absolutey perfect for carrying shoes. I usually care about 3-4 pair and still have room to pack jackets or sweaters in the middle organizer.- sturdy walls around the main compartment, and a stiff back wall, protect more fragile items– the color (i got the green one) is easy to pick out at baggage claim- handles all over the place...you can grab and lift this puppy from any angle without having to search for a handle. In short, you can't go wrong. Great bag!
