I put this on my mtn bike and I like it a lot. Took few rides to dial in the position to my liking. Just make sure you don't go for a long ride until you get the position just right. (on my first ride, my left knee started to hurt...adjustment was off...after that no problem) Float is nice and very easy to clip in and out. It is not the lightest but works great. Build quality seem good. I ride with specialized pro carbon shoes and support/platform size is not a problem. Wanted to get XTR but couldn't justify the additional cost for few more grams but wanted something "nicer" than M540.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Since I ride road bikes with cleats, this was an easy conversion. I rode up and down my street until I got the SPD cleats positioned. Tension adjustment for entry and exit is easy with a 3mm allen key. Now this makes climbing up hills easier as you can pull on the up stroke. I picked the XT M770 to match my components as XTR are too pricey for a few grams.
