Comments about Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Pad - Long:
I'm 245lb and tested this pad in rough conditions and cold conditions. I toss and I turn. I probably abuse this thing more than most of the reviewers. This is without a doubt the best pad I've ever owned. I've had several Therma-rest pads including their mammoth Basecamp model, which is a car camping pad and it can't stand up to the Big Agnes Insulated Air Corp either the comfort or insulation category. I always use a good tent with ground cover which is the main protection for the pad. Also, I've always used this pad with a Big Agnes Sleeping bag which eliminates the noise issue because it's in the sleeve of the sleeping bag--remember I toss and turn. So if it's used outside of the Big Agnes system it can be a little noisy, unless you are a still sleeper like my wife who uses the BA pad without a BA bag.
Stayed so toasty in mid 20's that I was amazed. I think a lot of folks that got cold probably used one of the uninsulated Air Core models--Duh!
Never had a leak with this baby. All pad's eventually leak. I've never had a Thermarest that didn't eventually spring a leak, so I expect if I abuse this one long enough I'll spring a leak but they do have a good little repair kit that come with it--so carry it and learn how to use it. I'm counting lbs the older I get. I've gone from 40-50 lb packs to 20-25lb packs. The Big Agnes pad is one reason.

Comments about Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Pad - Long:
While I do not consider myself a minimalist, this pad fits many requirements a minimalist may have, while fulfilling any person's need for a comfortable backpacking/camping pad. While the pad top is slippery when in combination with a sleeping bag, when in conjunction with Big Agnes sleeping bags its comfort is almost unbeatable.

Comments about Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Pad - Long:
I am a comfort driven minimalist. I slept on the Insulated Air Core pad 3 years now. One AT thru hike and last year the PCT. This pad is the most important piece of equipment I own. period. It is super DURABLE and the most comfortable pad available. Whatever Big Agnes is drinking, I want some! BUY one and go camping!

Comments about Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Pad - Long:
Overall, I've been quite pleased with the Big Agnes pad. It's fairly light (though not quite as light as the Thermarest neo-air, but not as costly either!), is easy to inflate, folds easily into a compact stuff sack (provided), and is pretty comfortable. It also seems pretty durable (but comes w/ a repair kit if needed).
I usually start with it fully inflated and then release some air while laying on it until it gets comfy--not too hard, not too soft, but "just right!"
I also like that it comes in different lengths, including long, which is what I have (I'm 6'). I definitely didn't want my feet hanging off the end, especially in the cold.
I have not yet used it in conditions below 50, but thus far, it's kept me comfortably warm without any chill coming up from the ground.
I've experienced some slipping when sleeping on a slope (say that 10x fast!), but it's not been much and can be addressed by using anchor loops on the sleeping bag.
Overall, I'd say this is a good pad for a good night's rest!

Comments about Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Pad - Long:
Just tried this out, but was not impressed on my first trip. I found myself rolling side to side a lot while the pad kept slipping from underneath me. I plan on returning this and getting one of the foam therm-a-rest's that have the non-slip bottom. I guess I've never been a big fan of air mattresses.

Comments about Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Pad - Long:
After only a handful of uses the valve began to leak. I own a 20 year old Thremarest that has proven to be much more durable.
Needs to be wider to support shoulder and arms (if you sleep on your back.)
Slippery surface.
To its credit it was comfortable while it held air. Side sleeping was very good. Packs much smaller than other pads and is reasonably light.

Comments about Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Pad - Long:
I went in to buy a Therm-a-Rest, but after seeing the Big Anges my mind was made up. I don't know why people say it is hard to inflate, all you have to do is blow air into the valve. I have used other 3/4 inch pads, but this one is 100 times more comfortable and more packable than most. I have not used it in cold weather yet but I will. I DID NOT have a problem staying on this pad. I am 6'1" and 229lb. and have had my best nights of sleep in the wild with this pad.

Comments about Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Pad - Long:
If it's above 45 degrees out this pad is fine. Below that and BOTH my husband and I found it to be a body-heat-sucking block of ice under us. We had to add a closed cell foam pad on top of it for insulation. We use 25 degree bags in warm weather and -10 degree bags in cold weather and we still froze on this thing without the extra pad. Many out there will thump there chests, pump their testosterone, and grunt about how warm they were on it. Not impressed. We know what we experienced and we would NOT recommend this pad as one to keep you warm. Comfy as an inflated pad, just fine. As long as it's warm out.

Comments about Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Pad - Long:
This is a great pad if you have difficulty sleeping while camping. I typically sleep on my stomach, and this is the first pad I have been able to comfortably do so. I don't wake up sleepless or sore.
It is very lightweight, as it is mainly composed of air. It is also very compact-able, more so than a ridge rest or a traditional self inflating sleeping pad.
The only con is that it requires more effort to inflate. It might take you about 1 minute to do so. But, the effort it takes to fill up is well worth the good night sleep you will receive.

Comments about Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Pad - Long:
I have used this product several times and have had comfortable nights of sleep on each occasion. I most recently used it on a winter trip on which the temperature was somewhere between -5 and -10 degrees. I slept in a 20 degree mummy bag with a liner, used the big agnes sleep pad, and slept like a baby all night, not once getting cold. It does take a little extra time to inflate and deflate, however, with the added comfort, ultra light, and space saving advantages it has over a traditional self inflating pad, it is more than worth the extra 3 minutes in and 3 minutes out it calls for. Its a great buy and I highly recommend it.
