Comments about Ahnu Tamalpais II Cross-Training Shoes - Women's:
I took this shoe with me on a 2 month trip through SE Asia. I wore them on the streets of Bangkok, in the muddy, leech-infested jungles of Laos, and in the rural medical clinics of southern Vietnam. No blisters, no tears, no discomfort (even after 7 hours of hiking with a 30lb pack). The best part is they don't hold onto dirt very well, so they weren't ruined after the jungle days. Some thorough rinsing and they looked presentable again. I still wear them now in Philadelphia.
I wouldn't hit the gym in these shoes (just because runners make way more sense), but they're a great versatile shoe for a range of outdoor conditions.

Comments about Ahnu Tamalpais II Cross-Training Shoes - Women's:
I have to disagree with previous comments. I think these shoes are amazing. I bought them for hiking but only got about 4 day hikes out of them this past summer. They kept my feet comfortable all day. They are not great in water or rain though. I wore them one day to work about 2 months ago and have worn them almost everyday since. I am a nurse and my feet never hurt at the end of 10 hrs on my feet. Buying another pair right now before they are all gone. They do terrible in snow or rain but nothing has been this comfortable or easy to break in for years!

Comments about Ahnu Tamalpais II Cross-Training Shoes - Women's:
I was so happy when I found these shoes. They are stylish, comfortable available in my size...BUT, I have had them now for only 3 months and they have torn on bith feet in the exact same place. Literally, big holes on the sides of my trainers making them unusable. For [$], and for any product available at REI I expect more. My last pair of trainers were worn every day (not for training just for daily routine) and lasted 2 years. These did not even last 3 months of short daily pavement walking. I doubt they would last a month for anything more strenuous.

I purchased a pair 1st week of April, by first week of June, I just noticed the net fabric is ripped/torn. I'm not going to buy this brand again, totally disappointed. I bought it for [$], I didnot even use it everyday. Not worth the price. Sorry, I'm just being honest. Design is cute and comfy.

Comments about Ahnu Tamalpais II Cross-Training Shoes - Women's:
I bought these for a trip to Croatia last fall (w/ REI, BTW). These are really comfortable for walking and just everyday getting around, but I thought they were lousy for hiking. Hard to adequately tighten, hard to hide the ribbon laces, and nowhere near adequate support from a shoe that bills itself as a multi-sport shoe. My feet were killing me on the hikes! I still use them occasionally for running around town.

Comments about Ahnu Tamalpais II Cross-Training Shoes - Women's:
I was so excited when I first discovered these shoes - they were wonderfully comfortable and very cute! I wanted to use them as basic walking shoes (city living) as well as casual hikers. After just a couple months they started falling apart. The fabric on the outside is just not durable enough. They were also annoying to use while hiking because the lightweight fabric is full of little holes and dirt would pile up in the shoes! I also found that they didn't have enough arch support and my feet would start to hurt by day's end. Like I said, I really wanted to like them, but I think they need to go through a few revisions before they're really a practical purchase for the price.

I also have to disagree with the first few negative comments. I'm a big fan of Keens cos my feet are wide and messed up from climbing too much. However having also flat feet, any Keens that have a back (i.e. are not sandals) don't fit me well. These shoes fit me great and I don't get any hot spots in the back. I wear them everyday to work and they are awesome. I also do hikes in these in the local canyons here in So Cal. I just wish more manufacturer's would make wide shoes like Keens and Ahnu. It's not natural to have your toes crammed anyways.

Comments about Ahnu Tamalpais II Cross-Training Shoes - Women's:
There not perfect by any means. My feet seem hard to fit or I am just whiny about foot discomfort. Still, I really like these.
They are light and the netting fabric breaths but that means playing in the sand box fills the shoes with sand.
I don't think the arch is high enough for me but there so adjustable that my high instep has plenty of room.
The clasp. Oh, the horrible clasp. I am on my third pair. I try to be so careful but it keeps breaking. I have the last 8.5 on hold now to exchange them yet again. I just keep holding faith that this pair will last.

I love ahnus, so imagine my disappointment when the "patent pending" sincher-thing BROKE 1 hour after I bought them. I took them back to REI and the shoe guy told me I was the 3rd person to tell him that! I would usually recommend their other shoes for the awesome comfort, but this was a huge bummer!
