Comments about Big Agnes Encampment +15 Sleeping Bag - Regular:
I am 6 ft and 250 lbs. Most bags are too small for me but this one works great. It has extra shoulder room and an over sized foot area that work great for me. If you are not on the large side this bag may not be for you. The zipper does snag and it does not pack down real small. But I will compromise these two little things for a warm bag that I have room to be comfortable in. I have used it down into the high 20's without a problem. I bought this bag for the size and because I used to slide off my pad with my old bag. With the sleeve system that is not an issue anymore. Just anything else, take the time to go into the store and try out multiple bags until you find one that fits you right.

Comments about Big Agnes Encampment +15 Sleeping Bag - Regular:
I really, really like this bag. It is about 8 ounces heavier than my regular (non-down) bag. But given that difference I sleep so much better with this and one of the BA blow-up pad combinations. It is rated to 15 degrees and I think that it would make it there (possibly with a light clothing layer for help). I am a warm sleeper and recently spent a night in this bag when it got down to 25 degrees. I slept great and did not feel cold (until nature called in the middle of the night and I had to go out and answer the call).
I think that anyone who is looking for a bag that can give a little more luxury for not much more cost and weight should look at this bag. I have taken it on a week long, 40+ miler and everyone else wanted to trade me bags after they laid down in mine.
I did not have too much trouble getting this bag into my pack, but then my pack is very large. I would not recommend this to anyone who is taking a minimalist approach. I love the bag and hope that you will too. Happy Trails!

Comments about Big Agnes Encampment +15 Sleeping Bag - Regular:
I bought this bag for a week and a half hiking trip on the Olympic Peninsula in the month of March. The high humidity and cold air had an effect on this bag, but it wasn't what I originally thought. I'd purchased a 1.5" Thermarest pad to insert into the bottom of the bag and I was often times wishing I'd had more insulation all around me. On a trip I took out there, weeks later, I tried an REI 1.75" mattress and it did the trick. I remained warm for the duration of my camp trip.
The best feature about this bag is it's roominess. There are people who don't mind that their feet are stuck together. There are even those out there that don't seem to mind that the sleeping bag feels more like it's shrink-wrapped onto them rather than something they actually enjoy sleeping in. This bag is very roomy, even for me, a 5'11" 265 pound man with shoulders broad enough to find other bags constrictive.
If you want to get this bag, make sure you start out with a 1.75" mattress rather than thinner ones. With the right mattress, this bag shrugs off high humidity levels and cold nights.

I used this bag in Texas this October. Temp got to about 39, I was very cold due to no insulation on bottom of bag.I could feel the cold entering from the bottom of the bag. I used a Thermarest Prolite 4 pad that helped a little. If you use this bag in cooler weather you will be cold, Really how woulnt you be cold there is no insulation on the bottom. I should have know better before buying. Its good in warmer weather.

Comments about Big Agnes Encampment +15 Sleeping Bag - Regular:
I use this bag for motorcycle touring. I recently spent a weekend in the mountainns east of Chattanoogo, TN, where the temperatures got down to 27F, and the only discomfort I had was waking up at some point and noticing that my feet were a little cold. I was wearing 2 T-shirts, so I took one off, wrapped it around my feet, and that was it.
When I finally got up in the morning, I was surprised to find everything outside coated in a thick layer of frost. I had no idea that it had been that cold.
I am using this bag with a 2.5" Big Agnes insulated pad. On this particular trip, I also hauled and tested a Coleman blow up mattress designed for use in the back of an SUV- that ended up being deflated in the middle of the night with me shivering, and then using the BA pad, which quickly warmed me up. Great products and system.

Comments about Big Agnes Encampment +15 Sleeping Bag - Regular:
The uninsulated bottom with an insulated air core matress simply does not provide the needed insulation. Car camped in 34 degree weather and the bottom never warmed up. After freezing for two hours I gave up on it. Fortunately I was car camping and had an old flannel bag to lay under it to get through the trip. I am now looking for a new bag, again.

Comments about Big Agnes Encampment +15 Sleeping Bag - Regular:
I liked the idea of a built in sleeve to hold the pad thus reducing weight, however, it was still so bulky that I had to buy a compression sack to fit it into my pack and even then it was still a tight fit.
In addition, I took this bag to the desert where the temp hit low 40's and I froze! I am 5'9", 150 lbs and I was swimming in this bag, which I think is part of the reason I was so cold.

I used my Big Agnes Encampment +15 on a recent trip to the San Jacinto mountains here in So-Cal. Oct evening temps were in the high 20's. The bag was at the limits of it's temp rating. My feet were alittle cold at about 3 in the morning right when the temps are hitting their lowest. But all in all the bag worked great. I used it with my Big Agnes Thermal Sleeping pad and the pad kept me really warm. The +15 rating should have been a +20 but with that said the bag worked ok. I wish they would have added a compression sack for the bag.The bag that came with the sleeping bag was to big and bulky for my Gregory Z65 backpack so I purchased a compression sack right before my trip to the mountains. With all that said I would still give the bag a thumbs up.

This is a fantastic bag if you uderstand how it's supposed to be used. A lot of folks have complained that it's not warm enough because there's no insulation on the bottom....well...of course not. If you're going to be in cold weather, you Must have an insulated pad with this, or you Will be cold.
I used this bag and a BA insulated air-core (with same temp rating) mattress in Germany this spring and did not get cold. I'm a 5'11 145lb guy who hates being cold, and this did the trick. Remember, the temp rating for ALL bags assumes you'll be wearing sleep-wear. I slept without thermals, but it only got down to about 30 at night. Great for side sleepers and people like me who like to move around. My girlfriend was freezing in her bag and so crawled into mine...and loved it. (These are pretty roomy bags, and there was room for two for a while, but it got WAY to warm.) We're going to try getting her the Lulu and see how it is to zip two of them together.
The only real con I have is that, with the pad in it, you can't sit up in this bag, or sit around the fire. With the pad out...you're back will be pretty cool. So, if you're a bag-sitter this is not the bag for you.
