Comments about Kelty Grand Mesa 6 Tent:
The Kelty Grand Mesa 6 is our first upgrade from a 4-person (Sierra Design) to a 6-person tent with our family growing up, one 8yr (boy) and 5yr (girl). While I might usually just use a self-inflating mattress my wife prefers an Queen Air Mattress (Aero All-Terrain). The large mattress fits easily in the tent and provides a nice separation between the kids during those sibling moments.
The tent sets up quick with only two poles that slide through up top and clip along the sides. I highly recommend the footprint, yeah you can use a tarp but the footprint just packs up easier and is less noisy at night.
My only negative are minimal pockets when use to an overhead storage net. The tent has four pockets that are low to the ground which serve well for stashing small items and glasses. There is a loop at the top center for hanging a light. However this missing cargo net provides great head room (I am 6' 4") when you might be use to being on your hands and knees.
We ran into some rough weather the second night, so having a window would have been nice but just required me to poke my head outside of the fly. The tent stayed dry and handled the winds fine. Extra tie downs are along the sides for extra security which I used for just in case security.
If you are looking for a 6 person that offers good value and some nice features with lighter weight if you want to go out in the bush away from your car I would recommend this tent.

Comments about Kelty Grand Mesa 6 Tent:
Great family tent! Roomy for our family of 4. We fit all 4 pads and sleeping bags, a large duffel bag, and even a portapotty for those late night, far-away-from-bathroom emergencies, with room to spare.
It kept us very dry and relatively warm (in 40F temps) while camping in Valdez, AK, where it rained almost non-stop for 3 days.
Very easy and quick to set up and breakdown...a bonus when in the rain!
However, I will echo the other reviewer in the lack of other storage pockets/areas, but you'll just have to keep track of your items. I'll also agree that the vestibule is a little small. It was barely big enough to cover 4 pairs of boots/shoes, and still leave room to go in and out.
But despite these small drawbacks, it's a great family tent! Very light and compact for its size. I would recommend this for any family camping experience!

Comments about Kelty Grand Mesa 6 Tent:
This tent is very easy to set up. It also fits a family of four (kids are 13 and 9) as well as 3 small dogs comfortably. The only drawback is the vestibule. It makes the tent very awkward to get in and out of when in place. And, if the tent is wet from rain, one can't help but having raindrops shed from the vestibule as one gets in and out of the tent.
