  • FOX 32 Vanilla R fork's massive 140mm of front travel delivers superb shock absorption and rebound damping; has preload adjust and lockout features
  • Rear Fox Float R air shock nearly levitates rear end over rugged terrain and off big drops
  • Hot Box hollow-core swingarm pivot delivers great lateral stiffness for precise tracking and flex-free performance
  • Shimano LX front derailleur and SRAM X-9 in rear shift smoothly across the 27-speed drivetrain
  • Avid Juicy 3 brakes and levers provide ample stopping power

After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly.     So I finally went to the dark side. After years of being a hardtail fanatic, I finally took a few full susp. bikes for test rides and was immediately sold on the prophet 3. Perfect balance of price, versatility, and awesome components. Due to the front shock travel, 140mm, I'm not so sure I'd be too fired up taking it on some mad downhill runs. BUT for all else thus far it has been perfect.

    Goes uphill great with no noticeable bobbing from the rear, this is all adjustable anyway. It would be nice if the front shock had a full lockout but the front vanilla shocks are super plush... Feels like you are floating down the trails...

    Definitely a confidence inspiring bike.

    Haven't found any real cons yet...

    Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

      I use the bike every weekday to ride all over Lisbon, both on/off road in and out of tight Euro-streets. It is a blast and very rugged and dependable. I would highly recommend this bike.
