Comments about Thule Ascent 1600 Roof Box:
We finally bought one for our road trips to the snow and the room inside the vehicle has made our drives so much more comfortable. Buy the larger one if you're debating between sizes. Even when they hold a lot, we've found that we find more things to pack especially with kids.

Comments about Thule Ascent 1600 Roof Box:
We bought a Subaru Outback to replace our SUV before ski season. We were looking for extra storage to compensate the space our old SUV used to provide. The Thule Ascent 1600 is perfect match to Subaru Outback (or cars with similar size). It is one of few models that gives us reasonable big storage but still allows us to fully open the hatchback door. We used it to haul ski equipments for 2 adults and 2 children for several ski trips. we are looking forward to using it in summer camping trips.

Comments about Thule Ascent 1600 Roof Box:
The Thule 604 box I got is in excellent condition.[...] It sits nicely on top of my Toyota Highlander even with gusty winds driving from San Francisco to Los Angeles. I have now gone over 1,000 miles with it on the roof rack and I plan to keep it on. I will definitely recommend this to those interested in having one.

Comments about Thule Ascent 1600 Roof Box:
Very impressed with the Thule Ascent 1600. Purchased at REI's 20% off labor day sale. Just took a 10 hour road trip. Installation was straightforward. Thule recommends two people for installation, but I was able to get the box on top of my Ford Explorer by myself. The box fit the factory installed roof rack/crossbars without issue. I drove through 1 hour of moderate rain and one hour of heavy rain at highway speeds and everything stayed dry. Best of all, I saw no drop in gas mileage! The 1600 fit a ton of stuff. Access was pretty easy even without a step ladder (I stood on the running boards or the back tire. No complaints. Now all I have to do is figure out where to store this thing when its not on the car! Haven't had it long enough to comment on durability.

Comments about Thule Ascent 1600 Roof Box:
Researched all makes & concluded Thule was the most secure & best buy.
The Ascent 1600 offers the most versatility & capacity for all types of vehicles, big or small.
Have had it on my 1992 Honda Accord & did not notice any decrease in gas mileage or stability. All that capacity & it barely hangs over the windshield. Appears I still have room for at least 1 if not 2 bikes.
On a Suburban it is barely noticeable, but sure holds a lot of "stuff" to allow for more room inside the truck.
The "Quick Grip" hardware, which allows for easy on/off attachment to roof racks, alone is a good reason to buy.
Don't waste your time searching the internet for older models, which are "supposedly" a good deal. Just go to REI & buy the newest models with the best features. It's worth it!
