Comments about REI Escalante Pants - Women's:
These pants fit some body types much better than some other REI models of "active" pants. They are better for curvier shapes, as they have more room in the thigh area; they could be a bit longer, and the waist sits a tad too high, but overall, they fit better and are more confortable than some other models. Also they have enough space for long underwear.

Comments about REI Escalante Pants - Women's:
The pants fit the way I expect a size 8 to fit but if you look at their sizing chart then you will find the waist bigger than expected. This is good for me as I am not barbie doll shaped. There is a drawstring to cinch the waist tighter if you do have the hourglass figure.
The material is terrific, Dries fast with a bit of stretch.
The pockets on the back make your butt look bigger than it is, a drawback for some and since I NEVER use backpockets when I am hiking, backpacking or mountaineering, I would rather not have them at all.
The front pockets are large enough to throw in a small snack or keys and the zip sits below a pack waist belt.
I am 5'6" and I found the pants to be "just" long enough. If you are taller than that or have an inseam longer than 29 inches then consider the "tall" - although I don't know how long those ones are.
These fit very similar to the Escalante shorts and the REI skort if you have tried either of those for comparison.

Comments about REI Escalante Pants - Women's:
These pants fit an athletic body terribly! I tried on at least four different sizes, all of which had a waist that was way too big (about a 3-5" gap in the back) and legs that didn't fit quite right. Come on REI, try making pants that fit well and look stylish! The legs fit strangely as the thigh area is loose, with the calf portion being slightly tighter. If you need pants with a lot of room in the waist and have very thin legs, these pants might be for you. Otherwise, beware.

Comments about REI Escalante Pants - Women's:
These pants are so incredibly comfortable! The only thing I think could be better is that the ankle needs to be a little wider, but other than that they fit perfectly. I would recommend them to anyone.

Comments about REI Escalante Pants - Women's:
These pants fit true to size on me. I did not feel the waist was too big. They are definitely stretchy and comfortable with ample pocket room. I like black hiking pants and these are nice a dark black. They are not only comfortable, but very flattering as well.
