  • Truvativ Powerspline bottom bracket and crank interface deliver stellar performance, whether you're grinding a steep hill or drafting a bus
  • SRAM X-7 Twister shifters sport a 1:1 actuation ratio and SRS technology for light, precise indexing; quick view indicator tells you where you're at
  • Features puncture-resistant Vittoria Randonneur tires mounted on lightweight, double-wall Alex TD24 rims, for speed and durability
  • Allen bolt skewers help to prevent wheel theft while you are away from your Buzz
  • Rear disc brake is mounted on seatstay for easy access and maintenance

  • Muted graphics offer understated appeal without inviting theft

After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. Contact your nearest REI bike shop for details and an appointment for this important service.

Comments about Novara Buzz Bike - 2008:

It’s day 10 and I love this bike! My Buzz is my first bike in conservatively 30 years. I feel 100% confident I chose the right bike for the right reasons at this time in my life. It handles great on the DC streets. It’s light, quick, and sure footed on the pavement, up on and off the curbs, and nimble in the park with my five year old. With just 18 speeds I recognize the possible limitations should I air it out on a long road trip. By then, I’ll be back at REI for a road bike. Nevertheless, I fully expect the Buzz to remain nearest and dearest to my heart and soul.

Comments about Novara Buzz Bike - 2008:

This is my first nice bike purchase and it is exactly what I was looking for. Quality disc brakes; sharp, tight grip shifters; nice, comfy hybrid tires... a smooth ride overall. Gear ratios are nice, with low enough gears to get up those big hills. I also appreciate the sleek black style and wheel skewers, both of which will certainly help make it less of a target for theft when I move to Portland soon.

Comments about Novara Buzz Bike - 2008:

      Speaking for the 2003 model:
I use this bike to commute to/from work and as my road bike trainer for medium distance rides (less than 60 miles).
It is a joy to ride around town, where the disc brakes come in handy when traffic misbehaves. My '03 only has a single front gear, but it climbs Austin's hills easily (easier than my super-light road bike due to gearing).
I have ridden 4500 fun-filled miles with zero flats thanks to the commuter tires.
The WellGo pedals kept chewing up my ankles, so I replaced them, and the chain can pop off or skip during high torque situations (yes, I have had it replaced and adjusted).
      Enjoy the ride!

Comments about Novara Buzz Bike - 2008:

This is for the 06 version of the buzz, which is an awesome color scheme. (similar to a light army green). I get more compliments on this color than any other bike I own. As far as ride, it is a superb handling machine. Spec'd with good components which have yet to let me down. I have been commuting approx 50miles a week on this bike, and have only replaced the tires. My only gripe, the paint on this model chips easily. The disc brakes are a life saver in the wet seasons. The Truvativ crank is still as quiet as when I bought it. I love this bike, and will sell only when I'm unable to bike anymore!!

I got this bike to ride to work a couple of times a week. Its a 30 mile round trip ride and it was the first break in trip I did. It was an awesome ride up the canal. I could'nt wait to get out of work and ride another 15 miles home!

Comments about Novara Buzz Bike - 2008:

[...] it was well built out of the box. Just attach a pedal and the front wheel. I use the bike for a 10 mile round trip to work. It is a great bike for short around town trips. I would like a higher top gear for downhill. And the eyelets are hard to get to for attachments. Other then that, great understated look, fantastic brakes, and quick shifting. Has a very durable feel to it. Very good value compared to the big bike manufacturers with comparable components.

Comments about Novara Buzz Bike - 2008:

I've been bike commuting for over 40 years and this is my best bike yet. It's cut 10 minutes off my 12 mile ride. It's smooth and rides on all terrain/pavement with ease. One drawback - the size of the disc brakes (must have in wet climates) block easy access to the usual locations for attaching racks and fenders. If you want a rear rack, you'll need one that attaches to the seat post which limits the weight you can carry.
