Comments about Maglite 2-D Cell LED Flashlight:
I'm a former Engineering Officer of a Navy warship, and having a reliable flashlight is very important. After the attack on the USS Cole, flashlights played an extremely important role. This Mag (and I have a collection of almost every Mag model ever created) is the brightest and most reliable. It has a runtime of 9 hours and emits an intense beam that has farther throw than my previously brightest spotlight (6D Mag modified with PR2-1WHP from [@]) with a bright spill (halo of light around the central hotspot to light things around your periphery). The spill is not as wide as previous versions due to the redesigned reflector, but the light is so bright that I don't mind. Make sure you get the correct flashlight... get the one that says "new and improved LED". The only complaint I have is that I am not a fan of the 2D Mag Lite form factor. I'm for big flashlights if you're going to use them as a baton, but the 2D is not large enough for that, and at the same time, too large if it's not to be used as a baton. By the way, you can swap out the LED in the 2D and put it into the latest 2AA Mini Mag LED. It turns the Mini Mag LED flashlight into a BEAST! The only problem is that the throw is significantly less. Getting back to the 2D, do not pay more than $30 for this flashlight. You can find it for less if you try. Bottom line, I am a very happy owner. I bought 2, one to swap bulbs with for my 2AA Mini Mag, and one to keep as is. I've also got the 3D version and it is only about 75% as bright. By the way, here's another tip: swap out the bulb of the 2AA Mini Mag LED and stick it into the 3D Mag LED... now you've got yourself a flashlight as bright as the 2D, but with multiple modes for your choice of either long runtime or max throw.

Comments about Maglite 2-D Cell LED Flashlight:
I bought this light due to the energy efficiency of LED technology and the reputation of the MagLite brand. Our power went out for a few hours last night, and it was plenty bright for walking around inside/outside the house.
