Comments about MSR Lightning Ascent 25 Snowshoes - Women's:
This is my third pair of snowshoes over a period of thirty years and they are by far the best. The bindings are easy to adjust and fit very securely. I didn't have to fuss with them over a period of two hours of hard use. When I used them in deep fresh powder (rare in OR) I sunk up to my knees in some spots, but they are light enough that I was able to keep walking without struggling. I'd prefer bigger shoes for regular deep powder use. On less deep and harder snow they were perfect. Exceptional on steep up hill.

Comments about MSR Lightning Ascent 25 Snowshoes - Women's:
These snowshoes are great to use, but require some adjustment if you are used to more standard designs with tubular aluminum. They are lightweight, narrow and have amazing traction. I was always used to having a little bit of slide on downhills (which was pretty fun) but these shoes don't do that. They stick wherever you are, making even challenging icy ascents/traverses straightforward.
The "televator" heel lifts really do help with steep ascents by taking pressure off your calves and back. I would definitely recommend this model over the model without the heel lifts considering the minimal price difference.

Comments about MSR Lightning Ascent 25 Snowshoes - Women's:
I decided on the Lightning Ascents after attending the REI/Mountainiers Snowshoe Event. Venders from all of the major snowshoe companies let visitors try out their models. My husband and I loved the Lightning Ascents because of their compact size and the fact that they are light weight. We used them on hilly trails in the Cascades, in the deep snow of Yosemite, and on the snowy icy streets of Seattle. The only issue that I have is that the paint easily chips off (I tend to hit the shoes together when I walk).
