I got my first pair of Haflingers for Christmas ten years ago, and they survived throughout high school, college (including the dorms), and beyond, only beginning to wear out last year. I recently replaced those ones with a new pair, and I am just as happy with the replacements. There is simply no match for these slippers when it comes to arch support, warmth, traction, and durability. This year, I will be giving them to several of my family members for Christmas.

I'm on my third pair of these slippers. I discovered them a few years ago and fell in love with them. I am very picky about my slippers!! The only downside to them is that the seams come apart easily. I have had to sew them back up on several occasions. Usually I sew them twice and then get a new pair. I wear them every single day, summer or winter.

Most Europeans take their shoes off immediately after entering a house, even when visiting friends and relatives; and many (if not all) Europeans prefer soft sole slippers. Slippers in Germany are Big Business, and Haflinger knows how to design them well. My first pair of Haflinger slippers lasted me about ten years and I only threw them away because of general wear and tear, including a hole near the big toe that wouldn't sew closed anymore. But except for the hole at the toe my slippers never fell apart at the seams, like other reviewers have mentioned. The slippers are super soft and don't itch at all. They keep my feet warm and breathe very well. I do agree that the seam down the middle of the slipper is a little cumbersome but I got used to it and it doesn't bother me anymore. Seems that most Haflinger slippers have this seam. But once you get used to the seam, these slippers will be the best quality, most comfortable slippers you may ever own. They're worth every penny. Thanks REI for still carrying this hard to find soft sole slipper.

These are, by far, the best slippers EVER. My husband and I both have enjoyed these slippers for nearly 20 years now. The colors of the boiled wool may change, but the quality, comfort and design remain exactly the same. I've read reviews where people stated the seams fall apart. Sure, mine did too after about 2-3 years of continuous use! We both wear them year-round. Great for hardwood floors..enough traction to not slip, but no scuffing or scratching the floors. THANK YOU REI for continuing to offer these online even if not in your stores. I cannot praise them enough!

I just received these slippers today and had been looking forward to them SO much. I never tried this brand before & I was considering them an investment even at the sale price. I adore slippers & have been loyal to Acorn for years, but thought this would be an indulgent step up to the next level of comfort based on the price & positive reviews. While these slippers seem to have terrific arch support & soles feel heavenly, from the very second I put them on (& this is while wearing thick SmartWool socks) I could not believe how strong the center seam on the top underside of the slipper was, ouch! Where the top of your foot is, there is a rough seam line that feels kinda like a plastic serrated butter knife, stiff & harsh & distracting. Not a feature that I want in a slipper. Since it is so noticeable thru socks I can only imagine it on bare skin. Everything else seems extremely well made & of the highest quality, I just wish it were possible for the seam to be elsewhere, ugh! I'd be willing to try another style from this brand & hope that other styles incorporate more practical design for something that is supposed to exude relaxation, not induce tension. Back to my Acorns until then I guess! These are being returned tomorrow & the search continues for the perfect slipper...

I've sworn by these for almost 20 years. Sure, after 2 years of daily use, they'll probably start to fall apart; but do your shoes last that long? My experience is that the soles start to flap first, but my current pair has gotten a hole in the toe. Regardless; they are warm, not hot. Comfy in the summer too. Can slide them on in a moment with no bending over. No itch. You won't regret this self-indulgence!

These are awesome slippers, but I only gave them 3 stars b/c of the annoying seam that runs down the middle (look closely at the picture). It runs down the inside too. There is a huge line/piece of fabric that runs down the inside basically going between your big toe & second toe. It is really annoying and somewhat uncomfortable....don't know if I will get used to these or not.
