Comments about Black Diamond Kilowatt Telemark / Randonee Skis:
I demo'd a pair of these for a day at Mammoth Mtn (thanks Mammoth Mountaineering for the demo!!). Conditions were mainly packed powder and bumps. These skis are very stable going fast on groomers and making bigs carves. It's pretty easy to make all size turns. I wouldn't describe them as quick though. They are light for their weight when hefted, but they feel solid when skiied. I am 170lbs and had the 175cm's - they felt too stiff and long for my taste. Overall I prefer a shorter turn radius ski that is softer than this one.

Comments about Black Diamond Kilowatt Telemark / Randonee Skis:
I was disappointed with this ski. It has a wide waist, and performs well on powder, but the insignificant sidecut means that it is very slow on groomers.
Actually, that's an understatement. It was BORING on groomers.
I demoed the skis with Frischi Freeride bindings. I did not tour with them. I'm sure that their merits are stronger in a backcountry setting. But at the resort they seemed fat, stiff, and slow.
Compatively, the BD Havoc ski was nearly as good on powder, but MUCH better on groomers (and twin-tip too!)

Comments about Black Diamond Kilowatt Telemark / Randonee Skis:
Have 7tm Power Tours mounted on a 165 cm. The ski is great in powder, light for touring, and busts through crud nicely. Turns easily but seems to do large radius turns the best. Due to the relative softness compared to other BD skis (Havoc, Crossbow) I would not recommend it for areas where hardpack is the norm.

Comments about Black Diamond Kilowatt Telemark / Randonee Skis:
The first day out was a deep powder day and this ski rocked! I thought I was in heaven. It floated well and initiated turns easily. It even did good in the trees demanding quick direction change. But then as the season went we had no new snow for a long time. I tried the ski out on the groom to hard pack and it was awful. The mounting point is set back to allow the tip to float but it also inhibits the tip from decisively entering a turn on hard pack. I have since used in other back country settings and again I loved it. But any time it hits hard pack it gets pretty sketchy. You may want to look into mounting them forward from mounting point.
