Comments about Swany X-Change II Gloves - Men's:
the absolute best glove i've ever owned. it got rated top product a few years ago when i bought the first pair(2004) and i just bought a new pair this past december. the only reason i bought a new pair was because i wanted to make sure i had another pair before they stopped makin em or changed em. i rotate between the two pairs now, i love em!

Comments about Swany X-Change II Gloves - Men's:
I bought these before the '09-'10 ski season. My father has notoriously cold hands and has a pair of Swany mittens that he swears by. I usually wear a Large, but a Medium in these seemed to fit fine. Odd, but OK. Used them for the first time skiing in a barely-freezing snowstorm in the Cascades. By the end of the day they were so soaked I could literally wring them out and have water drip off in a stream. YIKES! They then took *over 24 hours* to dry on an Evaporator powered (fan only, no heat because heat breaks down boot liners faster) boot and glove dryer. Good thing I wasn't skiing the next day! I should have taken them back right then, but I held onto them, because even wet they were warm, I loved the gauntlet tighten/open system (two differently shaped tabs to pull), the fingers had great "feel" for a warm, insulated glove, and they didn't look bad. I then used them once more in the Cascades (colder powder day, much less of a water issue) and decided to overlook the lack of water resistance. On a trip to Utah (where they were warm and I was actually starting to forget about that first bad day) I had the same issue as PowerBud... "the wrist cinch strap pulled out, and the seam between the thumb and palm was tearing." This happened on the 5th day of usage (total!), and I wasn't cranking down on the wrist cinch strap at all! Maybe the move to a Chinese manufacturer has caused this poor workmanship, but this is inexcusable. Thank goodness for the REI return policy! DO NOT BUY THESE!

Comments about Swany X-Change II Gloves - Men's:
I bought these in 2007 for the first time. My first pair had to be replaced after only 3 ski days because the wrist cinch strap pulled out, and the seam between the thumb and palm was tearing. So I've had this pair for two (starting the 3rd) ski seasons. The seams were coming apart before the first season was over. Now, I have holes worn through one thumb, nearly through the other thumb, and the seams between ALL fingers are seperating badly. The model I have does not have the full leather palm & fingers. They have a grippy rubber kind of material that does not hold up well at all. The rubber material begins to seperate and peel apart within only a few days of use. I have no sharp objects on my ski poles and use these gloves very carefully, and still they fall apart quickly. If they were $20 I wouldn't mind so much, but having paid[$] and their advertising says "Swany gloves are for life", I'm greatly disappointed in their durability. As for warmth, they are very good in that dept. I've skied with them in sub-zero temps and my fingers were comfortably warm. In the dry Colorado climate they dry out fine and I have skied them 4 days in a row, leaving them near a heater vent so they dry in about an hour. In damper climates, I can see they would not dry as quickly and probably be a problem on multi-day uses.A friend of mine has the same gloves and we are always comparing whose are falling apart faster. Gotta laugh at it or we'll cry over how much money these things cost!

I love the gloves, but in less than three weeks the seams in the thumbs on both gloves ripped out. The retention stap broke during the first week. [...] Buy something else.
