Comments about Columbia Sportswear Whirlibird 3-in-1 Jacket - Men's:
I bought this jacket as well, on one day that turned from snow to sleet to rain, and it never got wet. I read the other review and I even took my jacket and ran it under the faucet, thinking that maybe because I used the inner jacket I didn't feel the moisture get in. I couldn't even get it to soak up a drop, much less feel wet...water just runs right off of my jacket. Perhaps the other reviewer washed/dry cleaned the shell and in some way removed the waterproof coating? Or just got a defective one? Other greats...very soft, movable, and WARM jacket. It's not stiff and is great for outdoor activities. The underarm vents are great.

Comments about Columbia Sportswear Whirlibird 3-in-1 Jacket - Men's:
Took the shell to New Zealand for a month and discovered that it's not really waterproof. I guess the "strategic seam sealing" wasn't enough. It's fine for light snow and very light rain but nothing more. The sleeves of the liner jacket are a bit tight around the wrists and the lining sticks to your clothes making it hard to get your arms into and out of the sleeves. It's a nice, warm coat with a couple glaring faults.
