          I would recommend this backbone accessory to anyone that purchases an Advanced Elements inflatable kayak. Its adds stability and rigidity, helps tracking and makes the kayak perform like a hardshell.

                This item is perhaps the only after-market accessory worth getting for the Advanced Element. Before I had the backbone, paddling the kayak was like dragging an anchor. Now the kayak feels nearly as fast as a hard shell. Paddling effort is much reduced. On the downside, the kayak is a little less stable (not a big deal to me). Also, you are more likely to get stuck in shallow waters. But overall very well recommended.

                  The Backbone provides an amazing performance boost to the Advanced Frame inflatable kayak. Everything from speed, rigidity, and the way you glide through the water improves drastically. Having used my AE kayak for a week without it I can't imagine why they don't just include one with the kayak. I would have trouble recommending an AE kayak without one. It takes your kayak from "Neat." to "YEAH! Now what?!"
