Comments about Coleman Powermax Adapter:
I have used a Coleman X-series stove for about 10 years. Though it is a little heavy and bulky for backpacking use, it is easy to light, has a large, even flame, and has great temperature control. The main drawback has been the difficulty in finding fuel cannisters, especially in the last few years. I was about to switch to a different stove, but I thought I would try this adapter first. It works great. I have used it with the Snowpeak threaded butane/propane cannisters (it will work with the MSR cannister or any other butane/propane cannister that has the standard thread size).

Comments about Coleman Powermax Adapter:
I ordered this adapter via online, and when I connected it to the stove, nothing happened. I switched to different stoves--I tried it on Snow Peak's Gigapower, Primus' Micro, even Coleman's own F1 Ultralight, etc., knowing each manufacturer's dimension at the valve is slightly different. Still nothing.
Upon close examination, I discovered that there was no hole at the female connection point for the gas to come through the adapter. So, I returned the item, and waited for another one.
Unfortunately, the second one was the same--no hole drilled for the gas to come through, and no gas would pass--(pun intended). Back to REI to return it. This time, I am going to wait a few months, before I order one.
I was hoping to read others' reviews on this item, but it appears I would be the first one to review.
The stoves that Coleman made this adapter for--Exponent series' Xpert, Xtreme, etc.--are superb stoves, although their looks may not win the beauty contests.
There is a rumor that Coleman would stop the production of the aluminium canister, so the adapter would be an essential item to have.
I was doubley disappointed--twice in a row, and I think this was a failure of Quality Control on Coleman's part. Maybe there will be a good batch available later.

Comments about Coleman Powermax Adapter:
You will need this item when there are no original canisters, either outside US or in the near future, when these original coleman canisters are not sold any more
