Comments about Innova Helios Tandem Inflatable Kayak:
I have the previous version of the Helios and it is a great boat. This is no pool-toy blow-up. The material for this boat is as tough as the whitewater boats without being PVC. I have scrapped it on rocks while pulling it up on the beach and you can't even tell. It is tough! We have paddled on Lake Michigan numerous times and took it down to the Caribbean. We paddled most of the way around St. John on this boat loaded up with snorkel gear. We set off from our resort and cruised the shoreline. When the day was done, we deflated it, packed it up in the bag and hitchhiked back to the resort.
As far as size, it is great for my wife and I, being 6'2" and 5'2" respectively. It is tough to fit two full-grown men in it with gear. I am planning on taking it down the Green River solo in a few weeks on a stretch without whitewater. It will be great for me and all my gear for 5 days tossed in the front passenger space. The floor is fixed and not self-bailing, so I wouldn't venture beyond Class II with this. It is quite stable on the open water and I feel you can take it anywhere a touring hard shell would go.
It is awesome for traveling. The bag it comes with has enough room to fit the kayak, rudder kit, and I even stuffed the 4-piece paddles in there. in one big duffel for the plane, I included the kayak, PFDs, paddles and some extra gear and it was under the 50lb weight limit. Perfect for heading someplace to paddle.
I would also recommend the rudder kit, if you plan on doing any long distance paddling. It tracks very well on its own, but in currents on the open water, it helps to have the rudder.
I like the newer design with a full back support for the front passenger. I made my own tie-downs, but this newer version has them built-in.
Its a very nice boat. You won't be disappointed.

Comments about Innova Helios Tandem Inflatable Kayak:
I have used for two seasons now without having any leaks. Kayak material is very durable and can be pumped up to a very rigid shell. Valves are straight forward and durable. I have used this kayak on Class III whitewater - biggest disadvantage in whitewater is that it swamps and becomes unmanuevarable. It will not sink even when fully swamped - which bouyed my confidence. Best uses are float trips - very comfortable and can also double as an airmatress to sleep on.
