Comments about Inova Bolt 3.8 Watt LED Flashlight:
This little light does a surprisingly fine job of casting a bright beam for a long distance, using 2 standard AA alkaline batteries. The tradeoff is that the bright beam lasted only 2.5 hours in my test using new name brand batteries. After that it produced a much dimmer, but still usable, beam for another hour or so. I consider that a satisfactory tradeoff for such a bright beam from a small flashlight. Perhaps a bit heavy for backpacking, but I'll take it along.

Comments about Inova Bolt 3.8 Watt LED Flashlight:
I've taken this thing into camping with me during work expeditions to Micronesia. I was at first very impressed by the light, it's bright for being not so heavy. But I've had one that just quit working on me, and one that is now unreliably turning on and flickering off. I thought it was battery related, but I've put in several new batteries and it doesn't remedy. If it was just the one, I'd think I got a bum one, but two lights that have gone down, and I have to say, its not built to last.

Comments about Inova Bolt 3.8 Watt LED Flashlight:
When my costly Fenix flashlight failed and the manufacturer welched on their warranty obligations, I specifically sought an American manufacturer to provide a new light. This Inova "Bolt," as they call it, lives up to its brutish-sounding name, being a rather heavy and solid flashlight.
This thing is no joke. It is reassuringly solid, waterproof, and most unlikely to go belly-up at inopportune times. The lens is made of either mineral glass or thick polycarbonate--very tough stuff, whatever it is. While far from the state-of-the-art as flashlights go, it is still blindingly bright, and is more than capable of lighting up a darkened hallway. It is also a suitable nighttime security tool, very much like a yawara stick or Kubotan that also emits a disorienting blast of light. With this widely-underestimated capability in mind, the Bolt is a good tool to have close at hand.
