I bought these to replace some plastic baskets on a very old pair of Trak cross country poles. They come with a 1/2" diameter hole. I drilled them out to press fit on a wider shaft. They are sturdy enough for this modification, light weight and big enough for serious power snow support.

Bought these after my first snow hike where my poles were postholing like crazy. Definitely necessary for snow. You can also use them to toss chunks of heavy snow at your friends in front of you on every stride or target practice on trees. Fun stuff.
