The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Leki Rubber Walking Tips - Pair:
These tips worked great for me on my recent trip to Philmont where I was carrying a 50# pack after food and water.
The tips made it 5 days awesomely. But halfway through the sixth day I realized that one of the tips had come off. At that point the standard tips still worked for me, but it would have been nice for the tips to have been designed to hold onto the poles in a manner other than simply friction.

I use these for aid in walking and getting up if I fall, on normal city exterior surfaces. In this usage, they hold up quite well--but I find the failure mode a problem: When the rubber wears through, the metal washer is exposed, and at that point, the walking stick tends to slide out from under me on tile or hardwood surfaces.
Not sure how to fix this--perhaps the metal washer could be painted bright yellow so it would be easier to see when it wears through the rubber.

These Leki rubber tips (4.5cm) also fit BD Trail/Compact/ErgoCork poles, and the BD Walking tips (3.5cm long) seem to fit snugly on my Leki AERGON T2442 poles. However, BD tips cost 45% less. I've yet to use them on a trail (hence tentative 4 stars), but they certainly eliminate the carbide tip 'clatter' on neighborhood streets. And since I find that poles are useful aids during indoors winter stretching/balance exercises, the rubber tips prevent 'unthinking' damage to hardwood floors! As solid tip covers, I'm also hoping they may allow poles (sections) to be transported within carry-on luggage through airport TSA screening.
To simply protect pole tips or section ends from wearing holes in luggage or backpack fabric, or scratching something or someone, there's no need to buy special 'tip protectors'. Instead, buy 30 cents of ½" diameter clear vinyl tubing; cut 2" pieces to slip over carbide tip and/or plastic inner guide. Fits both BD and Leki.

Comments about Leki Rubber Walking Tips - Pair:
Most of my trail hiking is Sierra granite. Carbide tips are noisy, slip on rocks, and generally not very satisfactory. These tips have metal inserts to prevent the carbide pole tips from punching through, and are made from a very durable hard rubber material. Now I use them all the time, even on dirt trails. I haven't used them for a full season yet, but so far they show almost no wear. Highly recommended.

it's a walking tip so not much to say. The new model does not match the picture but it seems to have a superior design with deeper groves and better rubber. It has a metal washer to help prevent the carbide from poking through. It sticks on well and is bit expensive but I think it's worth it. It's not as agressive a design as their Nordic walking tip and not as expensive so I would say it is a good choice for all around summer hiking where the carbide is not needed and can actually mark up the trail excessively. Kind of the same reason steel studs were outlawed on tires in the summer. Respect the trail and don't scar up the rocks and wood!

I bought these to use with the Leki Khumbu Aergon SpeedLock Trekking Poles. The tips I recieved do not look exactly like the ones in the picture here at at REI. The pic here must be of the previous model. A current pic can be found at Leki's website. They look great and they fit great. They are easy to put on, easy to take off and yet they feel like they are secure once on the pole. They won't just fall off the pole. Can't comment on durability just yet. I do love the Leki Khumbu Aergon poles and I can recommend getting these tips to protect the poles.
No cons. Somewhat pricey. I think they should be priced at five or six dollars. That would be a more reasonable price. It probably costs Leki mere pennies to have them made, and REI probably makes a pretty good margin on these. Nine is a little high, but it is still worth protecting your hundred dollar poles.

Nice idea, good design... However, shoddy in the extreme. They wore out in under ten miles of walking on harder surfaces, precisely the type of uses they were intended for. Worse, the metal tips of the poles penetrated the things in just a few miles, it's just that it took another handful of miles for the things to become totally worthless...

I hiked the entire JMT and used these for much of the way on my REI poles, as they are perfect for both rocky paths and sand. Any time I felt they were not quite right for the surface I was crossing, I simply pulled them off (quite easily compared to others I have used) and put them in my pocket. I also use them daily on my 4-mile pavement walk, and they are very long-lived.

Tips were tested on "non-REI logo" Komperdell poles.
Fit is excellent. They mount securely without any shifting or movement during use. The inside diameter of the channel that accepts the tip of the pole decreases at its terminus, corresponding to the diameter and shape of the carbide tip of the pole. The transition to the narrower section is strengthened my a metal washer.
The symmetrically round shape to the head provides for a secure footing regardless of what angle the pole is to the surface.
I have used these tips on pavement (only when necessary), gravel, and hard-packed and loose soil with positive results.

Wore out after about 10 miles. Not worth the money.
