Comments about Leki Ultralite Ergo Antishock SLS Trekking Poles - Pair:
I’ve been a regular hiker now for about 10 years and I always thought poles looked cumbersome and unnecessary. But when I started training for my first Mt. Whitney hike someone loaned me a pair to demo. It took me a little while to get used to them, but once I did – amazing! They make a huge difference. The notion being that you get to use your momentum more like a four legged animal with poles giving you greater balance and power. You’ll notice the difference on both the uphills and the downhills. Also great for creek crossings. My brother even had to use his once as a make shift stretcher to carry a friend down the mountain. I’m telling you, multi-purpose.
These are a little more than other poles, but there are a few things you don’t want to cheap out on - main thing being the anti-shock springs. A friend of mine bought a pair without it and by the end of the hike her wrists were hurting from taking the pounding the springs should be taking instead. Adjustable is key, too. You want to be able to adjust the height of the poles for downhills and uphills differently.
I’ve used these poles now for about 5 years; they look totally beat-up, but they still work perfectly.

Comments about Leki Ultralite Ergo Antishock SLS Trekking Poles - Pair:
I've used trekking poles for over 10 years now and have tried different models and brands. This is a great pair to buy: not too flexible, not too stiff; spring loaded with lockout; easy to adjust, STAYS ADJUSTED; lightweight. Add snow baskets for the winter and your snowshoes have company! Keep them in you car/truck/suv - you never know when you'll need or want them! Enjoy the outdoors!

Comments about Leki Ultralite Ergo Antishock SLS Trekking Poles - Pair:
Eager to use my new Leki hiking poles, I arrived early at Kauai's famous Napali Coast to hike the coastal trail. While my main intention was for the poles to assist with balancing, they offered me much more. On the return descent down the trail a light mist was falling which made the steep rocky trail dangerous... but my Leki hiking poles not only prevented me from tumbling down the trail but cushioned my knees from the continuous pressure to them going downhill.
Thanks REI and Leki for keeping me in good shape for future adventures.

Comments about Leki Ultralite Ergo Antishock SLS Trekking Poles - Pair:
I really like these poles. I use them with the Leki pavement tips and they work well for nordic walking. I have also used them for light hiking, where I have appreciated the shock absorbing. The extended hand grips allow me to "choke up" on the pole so I can adjust the length without stopping to adjust the pole.

My boyfriend and I constantly go hiking, and he wouldnt know what to do without these poles. They save his ankle and knees from getting sore. After breaking his foot, he was afraid he would never hike again. But these poles are his life saver. They take pressure off your knees, and give you a great pace walking.
