Comments about Black Diamond Mesa 2 Tent:
I bought this tent because at the stated 92" length it was the longest, fairly lightweight 2 person tent I could find (at an affordable sale price of [$]). Well, there is no way on earth you can stretch the floor any farther than 90" and the only way the peak height is 44" would be if you were using it with fly only (otherwise it's more like 40"). I don't get why, when people are getting taller, tent lengths seem to assume that everyone is 5'8". Maybe I am off base here but my experience says that in the rain (even with a rain fly properly set up) one does not want feet (in a lofty bag) or pillow touching the ends of the tent. Given the slope of the end walls, that is going to be a bit hard to maintain if one is 6'2" or over. Also, I am skeptical about how well this tent would do in high winds and the size of the vestibules leave something to be desired. Had I paid full price for this tent, I would probably return it, and who knows, I still might (don't like being misled!)So, why would I recommend this tent to a friend? Well, it seems like a reasonably good 3 season tent for someone 6' or under, plus maybe I should not be making so much of a big deal about 2" (but to repeat, I do not like being misled!). Still, if you are 6'2" or over, you might want to keep looking. Heck, I have a 1 person tent that is a full 94" long, so there is hope.

Comments about Black Diamond Mesa 2 Tent:
I had the difficult task of finding a comfortable and light tent that fit my 6'2" body. There appears to be a lot of great tents out there, however, they don't fit people over 6 feet. Well, I can say that this tent works very well for me. There is plenty of room for me along with my gear. It serves well as a one person+gear tent but would work fine for 2 people (although maybe a little tight). The tent is extremely easy to set up and is relatively light. It's a very fine tent for all but the minimalist. I have yet to use it in the rain so I cannot really speak for its waterproof abilities. It seems to hold up in the winds well, too. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend this to anyone. The only downside is that I would like to see slightly larger vestibules...but hey, you can always have EVERYTHING!
Service and delivery comments:
Delivery was prompt, item was in great condition, and customer service was top notch (as always).

Comments about Black Diamond Mesa 2 Tent:
The tent is not as sized above. The diagram states that it is 58" wide front and back. It is not. If it was, it would be an amazing tent at 5 lbs 2 oz! Instead the tent is 58" (generously, more like 56") in front and only 44" in the rear. (Black Diamond website confirms this with a correct diagram.) That makes the weight to size ratio not so light after all. In fact, mine weighed 5 lbs 9 oz packed weight, not 5 lbs 2 oz anyway. Is a nice design and went up quickly and easily. Wish it were as big and light as promised. Returning it. Can get the Mountain Hardwear Skyledge 3 for just one more ounce and have a lot more room for 2 people. (Unless that's misrepresented too!)

Comments about Black Diamond Mesa 2 Tent:
When I bought this tent, I was looking for the following improvements over my then-primary tent:
(a) Quicker to set up
(b) Two vestibules
(c) Big enough for two people yet light enough for solo trips
(d) Warm-weather breathability
I've been exceptionally happy with the Mesa on all points. In addition, the fly works amazingly well, even in a steady downpour.
I'm 6'2". Although the tent is not "roomy," it's big enough for me (and my much smaller wife).
Lastly, with the footprint, you have the option of quickly setting up the footprint and fly only (such as when you arrive during a downpour), then later setting up the tent between the two without exposing it directly to the elements. This is not unique to this tent, but it was a nice step up from my previous tents.

Comments about Black Diamond Mesa 2 Tent:
Got this for Xmas 2007. I've used it all four seasons in all conditions. Love it! The hub design for the poles is superb and makes for a fast, idiot-proof setup. the hub, lightweight design, and dual side entrances are what sold me to recieve it as a gift. don't have to crawl o'er my partner when i have to pee, and she doesn't have to crawl o'er me. i've used it in high winds and it can be set-up bombproof if you know what you're doing. haven't pitched in a blizzard yet, not sure i would bring it above treeline during winter, but heck, maybe i'll give it a shot. kudos BD, well done!

Picked up this tent earlier this year, have been on a numerous excursions and I absolutely love it. It's got all the features you want in a lightweight backpacking tent. Haven't used in a cold/snowy environment yet however.

Comments about Black Diamond Mesa 2 Tent:
I was on a backpacking trip in the mountains of New Mexico and i was very pleased with the performance of this tent. It was very easy and quick to put up, it kept my dry all the time (we got hailed on twice and got 5 inches of rain in a day), The crew i was with always wanted to use my tent because it was so dry and comfortable. My only con was that it could be a little bit of a pest to put away and on the second day of my 2 week backpacking trip the bag to put the tent, rain fly, poles, and stake bag in ripped, but otherwise it was a very great tent and i would recommend it to everyone.

Comments about Black Diamond Mesa 2 Tent:
I like this tent. Like other reviewers, I find the vestibules to be a bit small, and I have had trouble getting the fly taut. That said, the first time I used it, it was pouring rain and we stayed dry. The next time, it was super-windy, and still no trouble, so I'm not complaining. I will add that you'll need a new tent bag and tent stakes pretty quickly in my experience. The stakes broke the first time they met rocks and both the pole and outer bag ripped by trip number 4. Minor inconveniences, but inconveniences nonetheless.

Comments about Black Diamond Mesa 2 Tent:
I generally like Black Diamond equipment, but was not very impressed with this tent. The tent is easy to setup and fairly room, but the vestibules don't seem to have much room. The tent had numerous toggles that I assumed were to be used to roll of the sides of the fly or hold doors open, but they are heavy and don't work well. I cut them off. The fly is loose and I am unable to stake it out so that it stays taut. I've tried shortening the guylines and lengthening the guylines, but there are always ripples in the fly that can flap loudly in a breeze. The tent ventilates well and I've never had condensation problems even when we crowded three people during a night thunderstorm. I'm not a fan of the pole hub configuration because the hub is a bit awkward to pack away.
It's not a bad tent, it's just kind of passable. I've used better and I've used worse. For the price and given the reputation of Black Diamond I expected better.
