    I bought this bag for a 3 week trip to south america. It lasted the trip, and I used it only a few times after that and one of the end seams split open a couple of inches. Not that big of a deal, and I'm sure when I take it in they will repair or replace it. Just something to be aware of and check after every trip so you don't lose something out the bottom of your bag.

    Aside from hauling just about everything in these bags, I have one that I haul about 150lbs of ammunition (all sizes, shapes, and weights of boxes inside). For going on 3 years now I have thrown the bag around, left it in the pouring rain, all while hauling WAY over the intended weight limit of the bag - and it has yet to rip, leak, or fail ANYWHERE.

    That aside, 2 improvements I'd make (REI) - Make these bags double-thick. They are a little flimsy(even though I haven't ripped them yet) and the extra weight would give me a little more confidence in them. Also, even though the zipper amazingly does the job (violently pulling it over something that honestly shouldn't be fit into the bag), a larger zipper would also increase durability. I'm not a fan of massive zippers (they bind more often, in my experience), but the ones on these bags could use a little more beef.

    Needed improvements aside, I'll buy 2 more this winter no doubt, great product!!

      I bought this bag so I'd have something that is very collapsible, but also has a lot of storage space. I tend to buy a lot of stuff when I travel, and I often end up needing more luggage space on my return flight than I did on my outgoing flight. I used to buy or borrow a cheap bag for this purpose, but the large REI Duffel Bag is a much better solution. It collapses to a very convenient size and fits in its own small carry bag, so I can easily pack it in my luggage when I fly out, then fill it with goodies while I travel. It's sturdy, lightweight and has excellent capacity. A perfect solution for my needs.

        Great bag, lightweight, durable, and packs small. Great for packing into another suitcase so you'll have room to bring home treasures purchased along the way. Also does not take up room in the closet or garage when not traveling.

        I've recommended this bag to several friends and they've all been happy with it. I also bought an extra one in another size b/c I liked it so much.
