Comments about Osprey Talon 22 Pack:
I love this pack. It's the perfect size for a day pack. Plenty of room and lots of useful compartments. Great design! The only reason I gave it a 4 star is because the elastic side pockets are too small/short for some water bottles and sometimes the water bottle falls out. The compression straps help with that problem but then you have a difficult time taking it out and putting it back in. I also take it with me to work everyday. It's just the right size and my laptop fits in it. Overall it's a wonderful pack!

Comments about Osprey Talon 22 Pack:
I spent some time researching online for a new daypack for quite a while before deciding on the Talon 22. I had always heard good things about Osprey products and all the reviews I read about the 22 were great.
When my new pack arrived in the mail, the first thing I noticed was how light this thing was. Once I put it on though I knew immediately that I would never own anything else except an Osprey! I mean this pack felt like it was custom made for me. The shoulder straps are super comfortable and so is the waist belt. They look chincy but aren't at all.
I first put the Talon 22 to the test on an overnight cabin trip, in the rain, here in Alaska. I like to pack light but was able to carry everything in and on this pack that I needed: Rain gear, extra clothes, pot/stove, bivy tent, pad, headlamp, and food. With a little ingenuity I was able to use the strap on the front of the pack to secure my sleeping bag. I even used the cinch strap and bungee on the side to hold my fly rod. You can cram a lot into the Talon 22 if need be. After 10 miles in and 10 miles out this pack performed marvelously. Everyone else had their huge weekender packs while I comfortably carried it all in my new Talon 22.
The second test was a 25 mile trail run in which I carried some rain gear, camera and extra socks, snacks and headlamp. The 2L hydration pocket works great and you can run the tube through each shoulder strap. You can really cinch down all the straps to get a perfect fit. You wont even notice that you have it on. I love what Osprey did to take up the slack on the straps too.
The only downside to this pack is that it does take two hands to open and close the zippers on the waist belt. No big deal really. I can't say enough about this pack except BUY IT. you won't be disappointed. I just ordered the Kestral 58 too which is basically the Talons big brother. Will report back on that one.

Comments about Osprey Talon 22 Pack:
First the negatives:
1. No matter how great the AirScape back pad is you are still going to get a sweaty back if it's hot out.
2. This is a minor gripe but they hip belt pockets require two hands to fully zip shut.
OK, now for the Positives:
1. The pack looks great. I have the Talon in "Chili" and it just looks sweet.
2. Versatility. I have hiked, commuted, cycled, and walked around the city with the Talon and it excelled in all areas. Also, its size is adjustable so you can fine tune it to your torso. Since there is no framsheet to the pack you can roll this thing up and stow it in your expedition pack, suitcase, etc.
3. Features. The Talon has great features. The AirScape back is great and provides constant airflow through back and limits how much SWACK (sweaty back) that you get. The mesh bottle pockets fit my Kleen Kanteens with extra room and the outer compression straps go over the pockets and you can cinch the straps to hold the bottles in if you are jogging with the pack. Also the top pocket is great for all your small essentials. This pack also has a hydration sleeve that is outside the main pocket which cuts down on condensation getting on your gear. The hip belt pockets are great. They can fit a small camera, multiple bars, medium cellphones, etc. Emergency whistle on the sternum strap. Osprey's zipper pulls are awesome. This may sound stupid to some but they make opening the pack easy. The outer stretch pocket is great. When filled you can stuff a rain jacket, fleece, etc. into the pocket. When the pack is not filled I can easily get my cycling helmet in the stretch pocket.
So all in all this thing is great. I am fairly picky about packs and this does just about everything I want it to. If you are looking for a lightweight, functional day pack for hiking, cycling, or just getting around in style this is a good bet.
4. Comfortability. This pack is stinking comfortable. You really do forget that its on your back. The straps are perfect and it really balances well on your hips.

Comments about Osprey Talon 22 Pack:
Just want to mention 2 things that were not clear in the description or reviews: 1. Hydration pack not included. 2. Magnesium color is grey not blue. All pictures indicate a bluish color, but it is more like a slate grey. Everything else with the bag looks wonderful.

Comments about Osprey Talon 22 Pack:
I liked that this pack had mesh straps and back, it kept me cool and comfortable. The padding is definitely adequate for the pack size. I've loaded this pack down with 20lbs of gear for a ski trip and was fine all day. The hip belt and compression straps help the pack stay close to the body, which is great for active sports like trail running or skiing.
The only reason this pack doesn't get 5 stars is that the top mesh pocket is a weird shape and in an odd place. If I put much in it it becomes hard to reach into the main pocket. It works okay for small objects like keys or lip balm, but snacks or my wallet needs to go in the larger compartment, making it hard to find.

Comments about Osprey Talon 22 Pack:
I travel internationally for my work and I wanted something that I could use as a carry-on backpack, something that I could use when commuting to and from work and is useful for taking a day trip (and a single night). This bag is it, kinda. I love this backpack because it has so many loops and pockets. I can hang safety glasses, sunglasses, water bottles, bike helmet, jacket and (not or, and) whatever else I need on a loop. The front pockets are great for holding glasses, cell phones, pocket cameras, contact solution and note cards while the side pockets are used for water bottles, laptop charger, mouse or snacks. The backpack fits well against me with little movement so whether it's loaded up or just my laptop, it's fine.
I use my bag mostly to carry my computer because I need it with me so I can stay connect with work and family while traveling. The only thing is that I wish I had gotten one size larger so I wouldn't have the restriction because including a laptop makes it difficult to pack much else for the overnight trips I make. Still, that's my mistake in misjudging my needs for overnight trips.

Comments about Osprey Talon 22 Pack:
I got this pack a few months ago, I have used it on many day hikes and I have also used it as my carryon bag when I flew back home. This pack it highly adjustable, and very comfortable. Lots of pockets for little things like cell phones, MP3 players and car keys. The main compartment is large enough for me to put enough cloths for a 3 day trip. The pack is small enough for it to be a carryon on flights. I would recommend this pack to anyone.

Comments about Osprey Talon 22 Pack:
I put about 60 or 70 miles on my Talon 22 in and around coastal California. It was the most comfortable daypack I have had. I tend to take along a little more than I need on a dayhike (just in case) and decided this pack wasn't quite big enough. I exchanged it for another (slightly larger) daypack. That was a mistake. The Talon 22 is a great daypack and I think I am going to drive to the store in Berkeley tomorrow to see if they still have my Talon 22. I want it back.

Comments about Osprey Talon 22 Pack:
Buy this daypack. Pouch for 2 liter water-bladder, sweat-less mesh backing, decent pockets make this pack great for day hikes, music festivals, days out on the bike and life on the run. Additional key features include zip-pockets on hipbelt for camera, snacks, phone, and pockets and shoulder straps for same...
The only negative is the awkward straps on the hipbelt, as its difficult to restrain the slack but certainly not a deal breaker.

Comments about Osprey Talon 22 Pack:
I have only used this pack for a couple of months on day hikes and have been very happy with it. I purchased the Talon 22 to replace my REI Flash 18. I was looking for something close to the same capacity, but wanted the weight of the load to be supported by the hip belt. This pack is better suited for carrying a water bladder vs. water bottles. Removing the bottles and replacing them in the two side pockets while hiking is easily done, but the compression straps are limited in compressing the load properly when using water bottles. Other than that this is an excellent product. When using a hydration bladder it is near perfect for its intended use.
