Comments about Mountain Hardwear Ultralamina +15 Sleeping Bag - Women's Regular:
I am a short guy (5'3") and decided to purchase a women's bag b/c the length fit better. I primaryily use the bag for 3-season backpacking trips and I've owned it for a year now.
The Ultralamina is a great sleeping bag! It is definitely warmer than advertised. My g/f has a +10 sleeping bag and complains about being cold while I'm sleeping in just shorts while its 30deg out. It also has kept me dry from condensation inside the tent. I would feel comfortable using this sleeping bag on a snow camping trip. Amazingly it wasn't too hot when I used it during a summer trip into the Oregon Cascades. I would recommend a warm weather bag though if you have money to spend for two different bags.
The dual side half-zips are great but that is definitely going to vary from person to person. If you like to sleep with your feet out at night then this bag may make you feel trapped. I love the half-zips. I can crack them from the bottom which allows for use of both hands while remaining fully zipped up which is very nice for reading, cooking or grabbing something out of my pack late at night.
The zips are also constructed with a thicker layer of nylon which prevents them from snagging. I rarely have to use two hands to zip up or down and can do it with ease from the inside or outside. I never worry about snagging the material and ripping my bag.
The shoulder girth is a little larger than most women's bags so it allows for a little more room to toss and turn inside the bag and doesn't make me feel claustrophobic.
This bag also packs down very small. On a recent trip with three friends this bag had the smallest pack size by far which is very handy when going in a backpack.
I've used the sleeping bag on three different backpacking excursions with varying conditions and am extremely happy with my purchase. No buyers remorse here. It's a little more than other bags but well worth the money, espicially if you can get it on sale. Overall I would I highly recommend this sleeping bag to anyone looking to get into backpacking, or camping in general, and want a purchase that will keep them happy for years to come.
Pros:
-Warmer than advertised
-Keeps you dry from condensation
-Small pack size and light weight
-Half zips with minimal snagging
Cons:
-Price
