Comments about REI Traverse Pack:

I got this pack the day before Christmas and used it on Christmas day for a snowshoe hike. The pack preformed well. I had plenty of room for my layers and hiking gear. It was snowing at a rate of about an inch an hour so there was a constant snow build - up on my back, but the pack stayed dry - along with everything in it. So far, so good!

    Comments about REI Traverse Pack:

I use this pack for day trip hikes that involve carrying my dog's necessary equipment (water bowl, long leash, first aid) along with water, lunch, and a digital SLR camera. I haven't run out of room yet! I love the padding on the back and the straps. For someone with persistent back issues, this pack is very comfortable after a day of hiking.

      Comments about REI Traverse Pack:

Great pack for a day hike, weekend out of town clothes or for carrying stuff and biking to work. Molds nicely to back, lots of pockets, waterproof zippers. Solid built. Allows ventilation between pack and your back; very nice straps, space for two nalgene water bottles and plenty of space to hook more gear. camelpack compatible; can hold 2 of them for a total of 1 gallon. Red color looks great!
All in all, worth every penny.

Considered the [...] Jet UL but wanted to carry h2o. Also considered the extra weight but @ only 8oz more it was not enough to give up the padding, frame & extra pockets, might still be in that military mindset of using gear that you know will take abuse. Just an awesome pack!

          Comments about REI Traverse Pack:

I carry too much stuff (actually just all the things you're supposed to carry in the mountains). The design of this pack is perfect: 1st aid kit, hat, & gloves into the front pocket; map into the organizer pocket; fleece and rain gear into the main compartment; car keys, multi-tool, and a couple of lash straps into the small, zippered slash pocket; MOST IMPORTANTLY, lunch into the big waterproof top pocket, where it never gets crushed. A couple of litre water bottles, and 10-15 pounds feels like 3 or 4. Works well on my 20" torso. Only downside is that with a 32-33 inch waist, the hip belt wings almost touch and the resulting straps are long and annoying. Fixed that by putting a couple of web straps with snaps around the waist belt webbing to hold the tails. Oh yeah, the daisy chain loops work well for lashing on wet gear, etc.

          Comments about REI Traverse Pack:

I love this pack. I tried a few on while @ REI and had an associate throw some weight packs in the bag. I did not feel the load on my shoulders, which is an issue I've had with North Face Daypacks. This pack is awesome, it has no drawbacks. It is comfortable, has a ton of pockets and organization, is easily accessible and is weightless. AWESOME, BUY ONE!!!

          Comments about REI Traverse Pack:

I love this pack. I initially bought it beacuse it was on sale. I ended up loving it because of all of the pockets and places to store stuff. If you love keeping things organized then this is the pack to do it. It rides very well but it does cause your back to get very hot. The heat factor is why it didn't receive 5 stars.
I have used this pack several times this year (about 50+ miles of dayhikes) and have totally quit using my other daypack. As far as daypacks go, this is the pack for me. I'm sure there are better packs out there but for the $$$ you can't beat this one.

I had a North Face bag that didn't work out for me. I looked online and saw this and the nice reviews and picked one up. I tried it on in the store with about 15lbs on it and it held up great. I felt great on my back unlike The North Face. Great quality, light weight and don't be fooled by the 1800cu in size. This pack can hold a lot of stuff. Great bang of the buck especially with the 20% discount.

              Comments about REI Traverse Pack:

This is a well made and very comfortable pack. It has a good array of pockets and padding. It contains a slot for a hydration tube and loops to keep it close to your chest while hiking. My only criticism is that it doesn't hold as much gear as it looks like it should. The top 1/3 of the main compartment slants back toward your shoulders, thereby decreasing the available space for storage. If the cut were straight up, it would hold quite a bit more gear.
