  • Quick-drying Supplex® nylon is soft, lightweight, durable and wrinkle-resistant
  • Fabric provides UPF 50+ sun protection, shielding skin from harmful ultraviolet rays
  • Hand pockets with key/coin pocket; 2 cargo pockets and back pockets with rip-and-stick closures
  • Left cargo pocket has separate cell phone pocket for convenience; right cargo pocket has a zippered closure for extra security
  • Both cargo pockets have grommet holes for drainage
  • Elastic waist with built-in nylon webbing belt for a secure fit

      I've had these pants since they first came out for my trip to South Africa. I was looking for a pair of convertible pants for both temperate and hot environments and these fit the bill. Since they come in khaki you can wear them to certain venues at night or for dinner. They hold up pretty well to wear and tear. Since they are a bit longer in the inseam the bottoms drag on the concrete and tear the fabric to shreds. The first gen of these had some poor zippers. Two pairs had zipper problems and I had them returned or replaced. As you know REI will accept returns at ANY time which is awesome. The newer second gen (you can tell by the darker waistband in the interior of the pants) have improved zippers and fit a little looser. The legs (I think) or more straight legged.

        This is the first pair of pants of this type I have purchased but I can say they worked out great for me. I managed to get them signficantly wet on several occasions during a recent fishing trip to Alaska. I don't think it took more than a few minutes for them to dry which is a BIG BIG plus.

        While I did experience a zipper issue with the fly on the pants, I will have to say that REI quickly resolved that problem. Other than that hiccup, I think the pants will be pretty durable and have already ordered another pair.
