Comments about Marmot Oracle Jacket - Men's:
i've had this for two years and been thoroughly satisfied with it. i tend to pack minimally for my trips and this jacket is excellent for it. as any product, there's no one great product for all occasions, so know this jacket's limits when you consider buying it.
the pockets are situated well, two hand pockets in the front, a left chest pocket in the front, and two chest pockets internally. if there was one on the sleeve, i'd love it more or you can say it's overkill.
i've snow shoed with them. layered, i have no problems with feeling clammy and my base layers are not affected. water-resistance is excellent. i notice no water penetration that's affected me. wind protection is limited as i believe it is only single layered and i feel more of the cold when i am stationary. i expected as much. snow camping and moving around camp was definitely cold, but i had ample layering. i think in a pinch, the jacket is sufficient for short durations. any longer than two days in really cold weather, i'd go for a multi-layer gore tex.
also took this through the amazon and machu picchu trails. again, while active the jacket was excellent repelling water as both places had a lot of rain. wind protection was an issue when the temperature dips below 45-50. on a motor boat through the amazon with temperatures of 65-70s, i was cold, and we were cruising 20-30 knots. through machu picchu when night temps can dip below 40s, i was fine on the hike, but when the wind picked up and i'm stationary, i'm also cold, but tolerable.
while mountain biking or hiking, this jacket stows away small enough to fit into any small bag, and i usually carry this in my timbuk2 small messenger along with all my gear, food and water.
all in all, this is a great jacket, but it is slim, so expect it not to be able to protect you when the weather gets really rough and cold. but, it will keep you dry.

Comments about Marmot Oracle Jacket - Men's:
Had reservations about spending [...] on a "rain jacket, but decided to go for it. In addition to spending lots of time outdoors in Colorado mountains in summer and winter, I commonly work outdoors, sometimes in not-so-pleasant conditions. In summer of 2006 I worked in the Alaska Range for 2 weeks, most of the time in a heavy rain/snow mix for days on end. Started with my heavier "waterproof, breathable" jacket, which was soaked after one day. I switched to my Oracle with several layers of fleece and stayed dry every day. It made the difference between a couple of cold, wet, miserable weeks of field work versus being able to work while being dry and relatively comfortable. That experience alone made the cost of the jacket worth every penny.

Comments about Marmot Oracle Jacket - Men's:
I bought this jacket before a trip to Seattle-Tacoma. The Oracle worked out great. The cooler & sometimes wet weather kept me dry and warm at all times. It was very comfortable and I never got sticky inside like some other jackets I've worn. It doesn't hurt that the jacket looks good too.
I originally went to REI for the Precip, but ended up with the Oracle and I couldn't be happier. This jacket has the lined neck & face area and a detachable hood. It also feels a bit more durable than the Precip. I have no regrets spending the extra $.

Comments about Marmot Oracle Jacket - Men's:
Very packable and light weight. Totally waterproof in downpour. Retains surprising warmth and can fend off cold wind, yet breathes too! I often use it in cold, wet conditions with nothing but a thin LS shirt/ T-shirt underneath. Will not be enough for extreme cold unless you use substantial under layers. Perfect for ducking in and out of shops in Western Europe during their typical, cold, drizzle.

Comments about Marmot Oracle Jacket - Men's:
I have owned a Marmot Oracle jacket for 2.5 years, and it has been very reliable. It is fairly lightweight and packable, and it has always kept me dry. During the summer of 2007, I guided a month long expedition in the Alps, and at one point we were rained on for 5 straight days. Nonetheless, the Oracle kept me warm and dry. I also own a pair of Marmot Precip rainpants which I also like.

Comments about Marmot Oracle Jacket - Men's:
I should start off by saying that I am 6'1" and weight 175 lbs. My arms are pretty long, even for my height. When I buy jackets I normally buy them in a large.
The Marmot website has nice sizing info for each of their products, including the Oracle Jacket. This sizing info states that for someone between 5'10" and 6'2" with a weight between 160lbs and 190lbs should buy a large. This is very, very wrong. When I put the jacket on the arms extend almost to the tips of my fingers when I keep my arms in a relaxed, hanging position. The jacket body extend down to the base of the zipper on my pants.
I went to an REI store and found a men's medium on the rack and tried it on--it fit exactly as it should. I spoke with an employee whom owns the Oracle Jacket as well and he stated that he too had to order a size smaller than he normally wears.
I would recommend trying on the jacket in a store before ordering it online because it is going to probably be larger than you think.
Other than the sizing issues I would say that this jacket seems to be a very nice jacket, though I am not sure I'd pay full price for it so if you can find it on sale, get it.

This has kept me dry and warm in multiple adventures that included hailstorms, snowy winter conditions and 15 degree weather. This is the most versatile shell I own. Lightweight, but hasn't let me down yet!!!

I bought this jacket cuz' it was on sale and I needed a light-weight Spring snowboarding jacket. I have used it for the past 2 seasons, and I just absolutely love it! Keeps you dry and has lots of room in the arms for layering on windy days.

Comments about Marmot Oracle Jacket - Men's:
I have owned this jacket for a year and have loved it ever since I wore it out of the store. It has done a superb job in keeping me dry in light rain to monsoons without getting clammy. What I did not expect was how warm it keeps me in cold weather. I take my Oracle on every trip now. I have hiked with it in the Sonoran Desert, climbed with it, and have worn it in snow above 10k feet (OK so altitude is not important... but it was below freezing). This jacket has delivered better than advertised.
NOTE: I have seen a couple reviews about this jakcet being difficult to wash. This is a technical article of clothing, to fully enjoy your jacket for years to come go to the manufacturer’s web site and follow the care instructions there. IMO I am glad the tag is not large enough to have complete instructions.

It is good jacket for casual wear.
It is light weight, warm, and waterproof jacket.
Compare to my other GTX jacket, it is less breathable.
