Comments about Cat Eye Strada Bike Computer:
I've had this computer on my bike for just over a year now and have logged close to 3000 commuting and recreational riding miles on it. It works perfectly for my needs. I chose this computer for two key features. First reason: It is small, and the mounting hardware is very flexible allowing for handle bar mounting or stem mounting. I have mine mounted on the stem and the computer is no wider than the stem. It is very discreet. The mounting hardware isn't mt. bike tough, it is definitely aimed squarely at road bikes. That being said, I've had no problems with the durability of the mount or the computer. The wheel magnet has worked flawlessly since I first mounted it.
Second reason: I wanted a computer that would simply log evey mile I rode without requiring me to remember to start, stop, or recharge it. This computer does that very well. The unit has a permenent odometer as well as two trip odometers. I use one trip odometer for daily rides, the other for weekly totals, and the permanent odometer for annual totals (I reset to 0 it each January).
I choose the wired version because I wanted to maximize the battery life. I'm still on the original battery and would expect a fresh one to last for 3 or 4 years. The unit goes to sleep during periods of inactivity and wakes up instantly when the wheel sensor is activated. I've used wireless computers before and I constantly ended up riding with a dead battery in the sensors.
I've been caught in the rain a few times and the unit has held up well, but I can't really comment on how well it would hold up in really rainy weather.
As for usability, the entire unit functions as a single function button. Simply pressing on the bottom half of the unit advances the function displayed on the bottom of the display. Holding it down for a few seconds resets the trip data. The top always displays current speed. The odometer is programmable so if you have miles logged on an old computer you can transfer them to this one. It's a simple computer that does what I need and does it very well. Installation was a snap. Setup was easy. It is very accurate, showing the same distance and speed readings as my Garmin Edge 305 GPS. If you want a simple, small, accurate cycle computer, I'd highly recommend this one. I still use my Garmin 305 when I want elevation, gps, cadence, or heart rate readings, but, to be honest, that's not very often now. The battery life on the Garmin is a crippling flaw for long rides.

Comments about Cat Eye Strada Bike Computer:
The bracket broke after owning the computer for two months. When I uncliped the computer from the mount yesterday, the tab that holds the computer in place broke off. The computer is absolutely useless now. Do not buy this computer if you intend to remove it from the bracket often.

Comments about Cat Eye Strada Bike Computer:
Fork mount creeps away from magnet, and registers inaccurate information. Battery faded after a few hundred miles and began to register inaccurate information. Computer-mount interface became loose after removing and reattaching computer 5 times. Unit bounced right off of the handlebars today, and into oblivion. Disposable. Try something else.

Comments about Cat Eye Strada Bike Computer:
I bought this computer in the Fall of 2007 cause I thought the one click design was cool and liked the looks. Have used Cateye computers for a number of years with no problems. This one started losing the connection where the head fits in the bracket soon after I bought it. Hit some bumps and your speed shows zero. I'd have to play with it to get the connection back. Sent it back to REI and had them send me a new one. That worked good for a while but it's back to the same problem. I think it lost contact 3 or 4 times everyday during a week long tour last week. When you start spending your time watching your computer to make sure it's working instead of the scenery there is something wrong. Going to return it again and get something different this time.

Comments about Cat Eye Strada Bike Computer:
After purchasing a couple of cheaper models that both fell off the bike when riding on rough terrain, I wasn't going to spend much on a "brand-name" bike computer only to have it fall off on the first or second ride. Wow was I relieved by the strong and durable mounts on this "low-end" model. It is super easy to setup and use and mounts securely to the handlebar or to the stem. Great Product for those who don't want to spend an arm and a leg on a simple computer.

Comments about Cat Eye Strada Bike Computer:
Overall, my Strada wireless works consistently and is dependable with a couple of minor issues.
To cycle the display (Distance, Average Speed, Max Speed, etc.), you push the face of the unit; you don’t have to press a button (at least not directly). The display is resting on top of the button which is on the back side of the display so when you push the face of the display the underside button gets pushed. To make this work, the display unit clips somewhat loosely into the handle bar mount. It has to mount loosely or the underside button would be pressed all the time. This looseness causes two minor problems.
First, on any but the silkiest smooth road, it rattles. It’s an annoying rattle that has had me looking for loose parts on my bike, unconvinced that such a rattle cold be coming from a little bitty computer. But it does. Touch your finger to the computer and the rattle stops. On rough pavement, it sounds like a grossly loose headset.
The second problem, also related to the loose mounting is that if you hit a significant road bump, the inertia of the unit can push the button changing the display mode.
“Huh? I thought I had the display set to ‘Distance ‘ ???”

Comments about Cat Eye Strada Bike Computer:
This was a good simple computer for several months of commuting, then it started breaking contact with the base. Now it makes a good clock as it got so bad it hardly ever activates anymore. I also have the cadence version on the T.T. bike. It doesn't spend a lot of time bouncing along the road, so I expect it to last longer, but not much. I would not recommend this product!

Comments about Cat Eye Strada Bike Computer:
This model should ONLY be used on a road bike. The function button is beneath the unit so serious bumps can cause it to hit itself and change your function/reset your trip. However, in my opinion it is VERY easy to use while on a road bike, simply tapping the whole unit as opposed to tapping a single button. I have around 1K miles on my (wired) Strada and it's great. I have much more robust Cateye's on my mountain and commuter bikes and would continue to purchase Cateye brand.
