    Comments about Byer TriLite Stool:

This wouldn't be my first pick for car camping, because a larger chair with a back would definitely be more comfortable, but I can't imagine taking anything else with me into the back country due to this stool's size and weight. I bought one of these about five years ago and was impressed enough that I bought another three years later for when I have a friend with me. They both are still in full service.

My first one was an earlier model without the webbing on the bottom, and the newer model with webbing is definitely better when it comes to sandy beaches, river beds, or any other soft ground. It really keeps you from sinking in. Plus the newer model now has the seat made from a rip-stop material.

As far as complaints that it breaks, I could see it breaking if you exceeded the weight limit of 200 pounds, or were rough with it, but I'm at 190 and I've never had a problem.

    Comments about Byer TriLite Stool:

this is a very good alternative to those three pole triangular camp stools that are so common. i didn't like the feeling of having one of the poles sticking up between my legs so i couldn't buy one of those other ones. this seat is very comfortable to sit on because it's like your bottom is in a hammock. there are no poles or supports sticking out and making contact with your rear. it folds down very small compared to those other models and fits inside a backpack very easily. it is also quite rugged and much more so than it looks in the photos provided. it weigh about 230 lbs which is more than recommended for this seat and have no concern about it breaking under me, it's very strong and well built. i highly recommend this to any backpacker who finds a comfortable seat on the trail to be of high regard

    Comments about Byer TriLite Stool:

I frequently travel to tournaments so I was psyched to find a chair that was lightweight and portable to take with me as well as use when camping. I used the chair a total of 3 weekends before the bolt for one of the arms snapped off making the chair useless. The usage consisted of me sitting on it to cleat up and take a breather between points. It wasn't like we were bouncing elephants off of it. I'm 5' 3" and around 130# so if this thing can't stand up to my weight I'm not sure what hope a bigger person would have with it. Great concept. Terrible execution

I am not an overly large person (190 lbs), and this stool broke on its first outing. [...] I ended up with the camp seat that incorporates your Thermarest mattress[...] and am much happier.

      Comments about Byer TriLite Stool:

I travel alot on my Harley Ultra. I have been looking for a chair that would pack small enough to fit in a saddlebag. The ones I had seen were over $100. Then went to REI and found these. Bought two and love them. Pack small, easy to assemble, no loose parts and hold my "heavy" butt with no problem. Would be nice to have a back, but then it would be bigger, heavier, more expensive..... I love this chair. I can sometimes put it close to a pole or tree and lean against that, so no problem. Highly recommended for motorcycle camping/touring

        Comments about Byer TriLite Stool:

I was looking for a stool to take on 3-day backpacking trips and purchased two of these. I liked the size and was willing to carry the extra weight for creature comfort. After a few trips, I'm sorry to say that both stools broke. One was being used by me (185 lbs) and the other was being used by my son (120 lbs) and shared with my daughter (90 lbs soaking wet!). On the first stool, the plastic piece that connects the legs and supports cracked and was totally irreplacable. On the second stool, one of the chair support rods separated from the plastic housing. Both stools broke while backpacking and I was none too happy to cart those things out. I think I can fix the second stool, but have been very disappointed with this product.

        Comments about Byer TriLite Stool:

I grabbed this at an REI garage sale a few years ago. It's come with me on several muddy backpacking trips and has worked well on all of those. While it's at home it works great as a foot stool. The small size make it wonderful for motorcycle trips as well as it easily packs into motorcycle luggage. I've had friends use it who weighed more than 200 lbs and it hasn't had any problems, I weigh 160. It is a little wobbly though, if the foot was a little bit wider I think it would be more stable.

          Comments about Byer TriLite Stool:

My son insisted we buy this for no better reason than being a "gadget junkie". We've kept it in the car for years, and used it for camping, sports events, etc--doesn't take up much room, and always handy. I found it incredibly useful, though, when going to a two-day festival concert via train. The advantage to this one is that it folds up small enough to fit in a backpack (even a big purse!), unlike most others. I loaned it to a kid to use as a step stool so he could see the band, then got lost in the mosh pit so never got it back . . . now I'm getting two, one for each of us!
