The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Leatherman Charge AL Multitool:
I've tried many pocket tools and Leatherman always comes in with high marks. It is durable and offers a good variety of tools. Like with any pocket tool, you will have to search for the one tool that has most of what you want and minimizes the useless tools. This combination of tools works for me.
The carry case could be better. It feels very snug and is difficult to insert the tool and bit case. I feel like I should find another with better fit and durability.
Some reviewers did not like the smooth finish and initially concerned me too. But turns out it is not an issue for me.

Comments about Leatherman Charge AL Multitool:
I love this Leatherman. It should be said that the main reason that the Charge AL is more expensive is the blade. It is 154CM steel instead of 420 HC steel. If you want to know more about the difference, do some more research. Theres lots of websites explaining the difference.Long story short the 154CM is noticeably better than any 400 level steel. It holds its edge better.
The grip is very similar to a chalkboard, and I find that to be a plus. When my leatherman gets wet I don't have to worry about it slipping out of my hand. I've used the Wave model when wet, and it slides around a little bit. But if you prefer the smooth finish, this model is not for you.
I've had it for a year now and I can't even say there are any marks on it. It's not even scratched after pretty heavy use. I would highly recommend this to anyone, especially those who work in a wet environment.

Comments about Leatherman Charge AL Multitool:
I received a Leatherman as a gift several years ago. The version was not as comfortable or rugged as I thought. I rare used it. I received a gift card and decided to try a higher end to see if there was any difference. I am a believer on the tool. It is well made and thought out use/safety. The blades are sharp and the tools are solid.
My first real home improvement project since the purchase was 3 cheap screws broke off. I tried several different methods of getting the remaining pieces out so I could complete the project. I decided to use my Leatherman as almost a last resort (i.e. after trying to drill out, channel locks, etc.). The thing that was killing was there was little to no place to grip. I was able to remove with the Leatherman all 3 screws with some hard torque. I was surprise there was no impact to the tool. I am real happy with the tool and carry it with me hoping for another chance to use it.

Comments about Leatherman Charge AL Multitool:
A beautifully crafted tool with great functionality and durability. However, there were only two issues I wanted to address for potential buyers:
1. From a functional point of view, the Wave is absolutely comparable (check the Leatherman website where you can do side-by-side comparisons of different tools), and significantly cheaper. You may want to look into this.
2. Although aesthetically pleasing, the black handles actually feel rough, almost giving the sensation of running your fingernails down a chalkboard. I tried it for a week, hoping that I would get used to it - but I didn't, so I returned it and bought the Wave.
Personally, I am more comfortable with the usual smooth, metal finish typical of Leatherman tools. I don't think this affects the functionality of the tool in any way, but I was just not pleased with how it felt in the hand.
Not everyone may feel the same way, so if you are considering this purchase, I would try the aluminum handles yourself in person to see if it is a texture you can tolerate. If not, the Wave may be a better option, especially given the comparable functionality, same exceptional construction expected of a Leatherman tool, and significantly cheaper price.

Comments about Leatherman Charge AL Multitool:
Bought this as my outdoor and off-road emergency tool. The "one-hand" action to open any of four blades is a brilliant idea. I really like it and it's extremely versatile. But, the outer edges of the blades (not the cutting edge) are somewhat sharp too. If you don't hold it the right way, or open it wrong, the outside edge has the ability to cut your fingers when you try to open it.
It's rugged and works great, just be careful how you handle it.
