The sponge was one in a line of Seattle Sports items that are marginal paddlecraft materials even for the occasional user. This sponge would not take up water well. The only good thing is that the clip made it a sponge that could be secured. My suggestion is to go to a truck stop and buy one of their good fabric sponges and add your own strap.
