Comments about REI Taku Pants - Men's 30" Inseam:
The salesperson talked me into these over the Switchback pants. I'm really glad I went for these. I overheat when hiking and skiing about 80% of the time, and the rest of the time I'm freezing. It's pretty hard to please my internal thermostat. These pants have breathable, wicking material on the front of the thighs that seems to keep me just right. They could probably use a bit more reinforcement on the insides of the ankles for skiing purposes, but mine don't seem to be wearing out there. There are taped ventilation zippers on the side of each thigh for additional adjustable cooling. I've done early-spring 14ers with glissading, and they did great. Ditto on skiing and boarding.

Comments about REI Taku Pants - Men's 30" Inseam:
This is the pant you're going to want to wear hiking and skiing between October and March, when there's any chance of precipitation, or when the temp is between 10 and 40. At first that may sound like a pretty specific piece of gear...but really...that encompasses most of the winter outdoors stuff, at least for me. I need something that was lighter than my ski pants, heavier than wind pants, and completely waterproof. This fit's the bill perfectly. I like the ankle that allows for a straight fit or to cinch up an elastic cord to tighten it around your ankle. What can I say...I, like others, love this pant.

Comments about REI Taku Pants - Men's 30" Inseam:
These pants keep you try. The side vents are great. With a good base layer these pants keep you warm and dry. I am a size 34. The mediums feel too tight. The large dont stay up. Since these pants dont have belt loops, they use an adjustable velcro strap on both sides. Before my next hike I will need to sew additional velcro to the pant so the straps can get tighter. I know the "in style" look is sagging pants. It just doesnt feel appropriate on a trail and results in chaffing.

Comments about REI Taku Pants - Men's 30" Inseam:
This versatile shell pant is useful for backpacking, climbing and alpine pursuits as well. they are light, flexible, comfortable and I love the hip pockets. The price is not as hard on the budget as the big name brands. This is a good product and I bought a second pair even though the first one is nowhere near wornout!

Great protection from wind and rain. Fits well and feels comfortable whether worn over long underwear or jeans. Lightweight and easy to pack. Definitely breathable -- no discomfort even with moderate activity. Intelligently designed with areas of hardshell to offer maximum water and wear protection where it's needed.

Comments about REI Taku Pants - Men's 30" Inseam:
These pants performed extremely well for a week backpacking in Denali NP in Alaska. Temperatures ranged from mid thirties at night to low seventies during midday. Weather changed from full sun to 30mph winds and rain. One pair of pants lasted through it all. The thigh vents are amazing.

These pants are outstanding. After trying TNF Freedoms, and Arcteryx Stingrays, I am finally set. Great fit. No belt loops, but the combo of these and some nice suspenders is perfect.

Comments about REI Taku Pants - Men's 30" Inseam:
First I had the Taku Jacket, & had to complete the set. I think I like these pants better than the jacket. VERY comfortable, stayed very dry, and loved the thigh vents. With the thigh vents I could leave these pants on even when the sun came back out, not overheat, and was ready for the next downpour!

I just bought them but I own the Jacket and I know I can't go wrong.. The Jacket has stood up to some serious weather and stayed waterproof. So I figured the pants will be amazing as well
