    It wasn't easy but it was worth it. A detail-oriented and mechanically-minded friend and I spent probably 90 minutes on this, from unpacking to driving away. The local Toyota dealership was going to charge me two hours of labor for the same service; with that money in my own pocket, I got the pleasure of knowing exactly how precisely we installed it. The kit was complete and well planned and documented, even with its own tape measure. There were a few usability issues in the instructions - we had to talk it through and ponder the deep meaning on a few points before the lightbulbs went off, and there were a few missing details that would have saved us time and a false move or two. Maybe that's to be expected? Nonetheless it's a well designed kit and I was finally ready for a major vacation camping pack.

    Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

    This is a solid product, and I'm relieved to finally have a roof rack for my bikes instead of a trunk rack that scratches up the back of my car. However, installing the thing is frustrating. This is not an on-the-fly project. One important note: once you're screwing the tightening bolts into the feet (pretty much the last step), it is impossible to get the little tabs to go into the notches that will lock them down. Fortunately, I think Thule already knew this, so as long as you get the cylinder locks you can just break the tabs off and it's no problem once the locks are in. You'll see what I mean when you get to this step.

    Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
