Comments about Wilderness Systems Tempest 165 Kayak with Skeg:
I go out on lakes of all sizes for all day trips and overnights. Guess one thing most will like is the cockpit is big, but to me that's a disadvantage for waves & rolling. Even tho it's still HEAVY proportionate to its small length, the plastic is thin & flexy - CHEAP is the word... future deck & hull deformation likely either by hot sun or on rocks. My usual kayak has a skeg that operates much more smoothly than this one. Hatch covers not reliable...due to poorly molded hatch openings in plastic body.. if hatches pop off & water floods in u can b in deep trouble. an obvious safety prob. If I could give this kayak zero stars I would. Glad I demo'd it and did not buy it. Wildy Systems is known for bad QC & this kayak is the poster child.
