I bought this kayak several years ago to take my son with me. He was too small to paddle his own yak and keep up. I go to Canada with a group of friends and kayak off the coast. This kayak has been one of the best investments I have made. It is the fourth kayak added to my kayak collection. When we are in Canada it is the kayak of choice by most of those in the group. It works well for trapping crab as one person can keep the kayak in the right place while the other can place the trap or check the trap. It is very stable and easy to paddle. Even one person can paddle it alone. Last year I had shoulder surgery and the doctor didn't want me to paddle much. I took it out to Lake Powell and my 16 yo. nephew did most of the paddling and had no trouble keeping up with the group. We took it to Canada and my 17 yo son did most of the paddling and he had no trouble keeping up with the group. I have outfitted it with a sail with a good wind requires no paddling at all.
The thing that makes this kayak stand out from all the other kayaks my friends and I own is the seat. It is like the difference between a compact car and a luxury sedan. Wilderness systems has by far the most comfortable seating system there is. It is truly amazing.
The only down side I have found with this kayak is there is not quite enough room for all the equipment for two adults for a week long trip unless you are sharing most of it. It does work well for an adult and child.
Overall this is an amazing tandem kayak.
