Comments about REI MultiTowel - Medium:
I have about a dozen of these small, absorbent "camp towels" of various brands, various colours, various sizes already and I've been using them very successfully for over a decade. This alone is a good testimonial as to their effectiveness. They are the perfect compact handy towel to have around. They do everything that a good full size towel should do (dry your whole body, mop up sweat, be washable/re-usable) with the added advantages of being compact, durable, quick-drying, and resistant to odours.
Disadvantages?? well... they're too small to use as a sarong/wrap after a shower. And, you'll tend to lose in a towel snapping fight due to lack of range.
Now, as far as I'm concerned, REI has come out with the best version of the "camp towel" so far.
First, this one has the nice waffle texture so it feels more like a "real" towel (like from home) and it seems consequently noticeably quicker to pick up moisture over it's smooth predecessors that tended to push the moisture around a bit.
Second, finally, there is a "camp towel" available in a nice subdued "military" colour (other than black, which is not an ideal colour for a towel for various reasons). I've been wishing for one in a light olive green colour for a long time. I'll be sending a few of these to my brother who is in the Army.
The towel has that nice snap-link loop to hang it off of things (to dry), and it also comes with a nicely designed mesh carry pouch which is waterproof on one side so that the towel gets air to dry while not getting your pack wet.
If I have one of these towels, biodegradeable liquid soap, and access to an airport sink or a little creek, I'm entirely good to go head-to-toe as far as daily hygiene.

I own this and the MSR Packtowl, and although the Packtowl dries faster and packs even smaller, the MultiTowel feels more comfortable because the fabric is textured.

This is a very nice towel. I like the lite version for camping though. I mostly use this style as a gym towel, and it works great. I'm also thinking about buying a few for having around the kitchen.
