I paid the big money for the Marmot Pinacle and was feeling a bit sheepish about all the cash. My first trip with the bag was in mid-July to Heart Lake in the Flat Top Wilderness in north central Colorado. It rained and it got cold at 11,000 feet. I didn't bring enough clothes and got wet. When I finally got into the bag it I was almost hypothermic. I slept wonderfully and when I woke up in the morning I wasn't feeling so cheap.
This is a fine lightweight bag with lots of loft. It sleeps warm but is easy to cool off with the double zipper. It breathes nicely. You don't have a wet calmmy feeling waking you up in the middle of the night.

I am on my 10th season with the Pinnacle...still performs like it did the first day I bought it. I have been to around 0 degrees Farenheit multiple times and still managed to stay warm. Packs down next to nothing and the weight is nearly as light as they come for a roomy mummy bag. Don't know when I will have to replace it...but when I do, it will be with another Pinnacle. Remember, you get what you pay for...it's worth it! Happy Trails!

This bag is a keeper. I've owned one for a year now and it has definitely earned my respect. Marmot drew a fine line between weight considerations and durability and nailed it! Yes, there are lighter 15 degree bags out there, but I'm not sure they would stand up to week-in-week-out use like the Pinnacle would.
The footbox is pure perfection. I have a tendency to get cold feet, but not with this bag. The hood and collar are also well-designed, warmth-trapping and functional.
While the water-resistant shell does it's job when you sink down to the end of your tent and condensation starts dripping, there is a minor downside. When using the bag at the upper limits of its temperature range I have noticed that it does not breath as well as bags with non-water-resistant shells - i.e., sweaty foot syndrome during warmer weather. I can live with that, given that this bag is superior in so many other areas, and the full zipper can alleviate most of that concern. That minor gripe is not enough to sway me from giving it a well-deserved 5 star rating.

I put a lot of research into choosing a down sleeping bag and after comparing similar models from Northface, Mountain Hardware, and Marmot I decided on the Pinnacle. I absolutely love it! You definitely get what you pay for and then some! I have already used this bag for a 5 day summer trip to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in Northern Minnesota along with using it for camping while climbing two Fourteeners in the Aspen area of Colorado! The bag kept me warm, withheld minor amounts of water like a pro, and also with the addition of a stuff sack it compacted down to a size not much larger than a football! Can't go wrong with this high quality, comfortable, stylish bag!

I have been backpacking for over 30 years. I do extensive research of gear before purchasing and looked at several other bags besides the Marmot Pinnacle, which I bought 3 years ago. I regularly camp above 10,000 feet and regardless of the conditions this bag has done its job. The Pinnacle is a solid, well-made, lightweight 3-season bag, perfect for the serious backpacker. Kudos to Marmot!

I spent hours looking for a down bag and finally decided on this one. I am so happy with it! It is everything I wanted in a bag: down, VERY compressible, light, and of course warm. I used it in combination with my Prolite 4 at 11K feet on Mt.Rainier in 20-30 deg windy weather and was toasty warm. Definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a down bag with similar ratings. Quality Product!

The Pinnacle is perfect for 3-4 season backpacking. Even on long trips, the shell will dry quickly should it become damp. The zipper works flawlessly and the hood and foot box are shaped perfectly. I have used down to low-20s, using base-layer alone and was very toasty. Awesome color

I spent a lot of time doing research to choose a new down bag. My last bag was too narrow, and I didn't want to make that mistake again. This bag seems to have the perfect balance of roominess to be comfortable, yet still stay warm. The lining is luxuriously smooth. The zipper design works very well, rarely snagging. The footbox is very roomy. I'm a cold sleeper, but at 30 F with a base layer I have been comfortably warm.

This bag has been excellent for keeping me warm in temperatures down to its +15 rating in high winds. It is very light, compressible and resilient. Bag is so warm that I found myself sweating rather easily--I wonder if the water resistance treatment impairs its ability to breathe.
