Comments about REI Sub Kilo +20 Sleeping Bag - Long:
I've probably slept about 15 nights in this bag and am overall pleased with the performance. It is very light with quality down for the money.
I think the 20 degree rating is pretty optimistic, as I've found myself chilled in 30-35 degree temps with long pants and sleeves on. I have needed to wear my raingear in the bag when sleeping to stay warm enough to sleep comfortably occasionally. However, your mileage may vary due to whether you sleep warm or cold.
It does not have a zipper pocket in the hood, which I have used to stuff clothes into for a pillow, which is a drawback for me.
As with other bags, the zipper does snag fairly easily. In addition, the DWR finish leaves a little to be desired as the water protection is not outstanding. But again, for the price point relative to comparable bags, this is a hard sleep system to pass up.

Comments about REI Sub Kilo +20 Sleeping Bag - Long:
Got this bag at a steal during the member only sale. had some stain on it, but some woollite helped make this bag brand new. i recommend getting a sleeping pad, since down doesn't offer much cushioning. bag looks great, handles temp very well, and stows away nicely.

Comments about REI Sub Kilo +20 Sleeping Bag - Long:
I'm a 5'11" 165lbs guy and originally bought the regular sized bag (which they say should fit someone up to 6'1") and tried it out in my living room. That bag felt too small all around from the feet area to the shoulders. So I went and exchanged the bag for the long one and I'm VERY glad I did. My feet can now kick out at the bottom on hot nights (because the mummy bag zipper doesn't go all the way to the bottom) and turn over without having the bag twist with me.
For anyone over 5'10" or someone over 160lbs I would recommend getting the larger bag.
Other than that it's a great bag.

Comments about REI Sub Kilo +20 Sleeping Bag - Long:
This has become my primary bag and I usually take it with me now on even the short car/weekender trips. I've sold my other bags and this bag meets and exceeds my expectations for the temp rating. Tend to take more dry season trips, so I cannot comment on how well it holds up in downpours, but in the few rain and snow trips I've been on it's stayed solid and warm.
It is a snug bag though. I'm 5'8" 170# and it can get a bit tight, but I have gotten used to it. Because of the material I am a bit overly cautious about getting it wet since it seems like it would soak up even the smallest bit of H20. And something small that actually bothers me on a lot of bags, is that the zipper always snags, but I've worked around it.
The price seems a bit high, but I snagged it for an incredible price at a used gear sale! As a side note, I hand washed it right away with some down wash that I picked up at REI, and it's holding together nicely and restored much of it's original loft.
Buy one and get another for your significant other in the opposite zip!

Comments about REI Sub Kilo +20 Sleeping Bag - Long:
Comfortable bag, but slender. I'm 5'10" with wide shoulders and I had to get the long bag to give any room to move. There are probably wider/shorter bags that would fit better, but these (women's for the wife) were on sale. These bags pack real small and easily, plus they come with their own compression sack.

Comments about REI Sub Kilo +20 Sleeping Bag - Long:
I work on a USFS backcountry trail crew and I all but live out of this thing in the summers. It is warm and light but the shell material is so light I feel like it is going to fall apart on me... Long story short, it hasn't died on me yet but feathers started coming out by the second week of work.

Comments about REI Sub Kilo +20 Sleeping Bag - Long:
This bag feels really soft, is very light, and warm.
The only thing I don't like about it is that if you have broad shoulders, and have a big chest 44" and above, this bag will feel like a straight jacket as someone mentioned earlier.
Also the baffle stitching (horizontal stripes) feel uncomfortable. I almost felt like I was Guliver and there were tiny little people with ropes holding me down. If you run your hand along the inside of the bag while you're zipped in you will know what i am talking about.
Overall I think i'm going to return it for something a little more roomier and more comfortable.
For smaller people this bag should be great. I'm 5'10" 200lbs. and it was a little tight for me even though I got the Long.

Comments about REI Sub Kilo +20 Sleeping Bag - Long:
This is my third 20 degree down bag and the only one so far that is significantly cooler than the rating suggests. I often get cold about 30 degrees especially in my feet. Perhaps it is because my bag weighs 2oz less than the "average". I bought the women's version for my wife at the same and it appears to actually be more accurate on its temperature rating.

Comments about REI Sub Kilo +20 Sleeping Bag - Long:
The Subkilo is an excellent value, weighing in at 2 lbs. & [$]This sleeping bag delivers the same performance as name brands retailing for twice as much. I've used my SubKilo on many climbs/backpacking trips, and have no complaints. In fact, I would also recommend the women's version.Bottom Line: Big Bang for your Buck!!

Comments about REI Sub Kilo +20 Sleeping Bag - Long:
I have had this bag for about a year and a half and have probably spent about 50 nights in it. It has performed very well and is extremely light and compressable. My only complaint is it's temp rating. I am usually a warm sleeper as most men are yet I have been uncomfortably cold in this bag at around 35 degrees. I only had base layer pants on so a shirt may have helped but I did get a bit chilly at my feet and mid section. I have only had this bag wet once and the wetness did not spread like it has in other bags I have used. That was nice because it still kept me warm in all other areas. This zipper tab is slightly annoying bc it likes to droop in your face sometimes. Also a zipper stash pocket would be nice.
