Comments about Mad Rock Mad Monkey Rock Shoes - Kids':
Good fit- very adjustable with the heel strap/ top closure. Easy to put on and take off; great for kids. If you buy them a little big for a beginner, s/he can wear socks at first, then grow into them for a long time (barefoot). Beginning kids will not like -or need- a tight fitting climbing shoe at first.

These are great shoes for my daughter. Since they have an adjustable strap, the shoes actually span two sizes. We are on our second pair now since kids' feet grow so fast. The velcro tightness adjusters make the shoes feel like a custom fit. They have held up well and will be stored until the younger daughter starts to climb too.

My grandson is 6 and has small, very wide feet. There are so few shoes available in kids sizes that we started in the only pair we could find, about 7 half-sizes too big! He still loved them and managed to climb just fine in them! Much better than using flexible water shoes that were recommended by a friend. Now we got shoes just 1 full size too big, and he fits them pretty well. If your child has smaller feet or narrower feet, you might have more trouble with fit since they don't come in anything smaller than 11. His feet are so wide that they barely close. But they do close, that's all that's really needed. And they are cute too!

I bought these shoes for my kids after seeing that they were adjustable. It's a terrific idea and the adjustment works well for growing feet. I thought I had found an answer to keeping my kids climbing and in shoes for more than 6 months until the uppers on these shoes disintergrated.[...] In short, Mad Rock falls way short on quality[...]. Both my kids are now in 5.10's or Evolv's

This was the second pair of shoes we got for our size 13K girl. After two climbs, the heel strap broke. When I compared the 13k with a size 2 or larger, I noticed that the attachment point of the heel strap fabric retaining attachment was much smaller than the metal loop. This allowed the metal loop to shift long-ways, which quickly broke the fabric retaining strap. On larger sizes, the fabric attachment point is matched in size to the metal attachment which keeps it from turning.
When my little climber's foot grows to a better engineered Mad Monkey shoe size, we'll try this again since it does have a thicker toe sole than the shoes she is wearing now.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend who has a shoe size smaller than kids 2.

I have little wide feet so I was surprised that not only was it the right size but width as well. The only thing that would make it better is if it had more than just one strap. Otherwise it is a great item.
