Comments about Novara Stratos Bike Jacket - Men's:
I concur with other reviewers - this jacket is amazing for sealing out the elements! I've never had a drop of moisture come into this jacket, but that does remind me - I've never had a drop of moisture leave it either. I've heard numerous promises about "breathability," and I'm not sure I ever understood or believed in the physical/chemical principle of one-way moisture transfer. The pit zips help keep your core cool & dry when necessary, but I almost always find the cuffs and lower sleeves pretty damp after a hard ride. The great protection from rain and muck is worth it, though.
Wind? No problem. I've ridden in conditions where I thought my nose was going to fall off from the chill, and this jacket didn't leave me feeling cold at all.
Advice for those wondering about fit - I'm about 5' 11" and pretty trim. I tried out a large and it was too big all around, so I bought this in a medium and found that the sleeves are perhaps just a tiny bit short for me when joining with my gloves, and I have to periodically pull the waist back into position after changing positions from seated / standing etc to keep from letting some seriously cold air in.
This would be an awesome casual wear jacket if it had front pockets. I think the choice to omit pockets was wise though - it makes for a very close fitting and non-bulky feel when riding.

The Stratos is the perfect answer to riding in the winter. The taped seams and adjustable neck and cuffs allow the wearer to completely seal out the elements. When it warms up the underarm vents are there to keep you cool. This is a jacket designed by cyclists for cyclists. If you would rather not let the weather decide the fate of your bike ride, you need this jacket !

Comments about Novara Stratos Bike Jacket - Men's:
I had this Jacket for a month now and finally think I can give a good review. First off I must note that I’m not the one to be usually spending a lot of money on clothing unless it's really going to make a difference (like winter boots). Thus I’ve been picky about jackets, searched around a lot and then got this one (a large, which was true to size) while it was on sale.
I use the jacket for my 12 mile round trip commute to work in Washington DC. The ride is just long enough, with a few hills and enough traffic to get me worked/heated up from the ride to and back from work. I’ve been riding in the mornings lately in 35-40 degrees Fahrenheit temperatures wearing only a t-shirt underneath with gloves and knickers (and a backpack).
Amazingly 4/5ths of the ride through and I’m unzipping the jacket to cool down (FYI though I do quickly warm up and sweat slight bit more then average). I’d say it’s breathable, but it’s definitely not going to do any miracles. The jacket is light and thin. It 100% rainproof in a heavy down pour. The butt flap that can be unbuttoned down when it rains (though I haven’t used it because I have fenders) and the flap has wording in a classy font on that says “It’s never a bad time to ride”.
The armpit flaps work really well but it’s almost impossible to unzip them while riding. Thus I actually sometimes have to hope that I come to red light so I can stop and use two hands to open the armpit zipper to keep from getting to hot while ridding. Maybe if they made the pull-tab larger, this could be facilitated easier.
The Velcro cuffs on the wrist work well, though on the neck it feels sort of awkward, sort of like wearing a turtleneck that’s to small. I think it just that way it hugs because I have jackets that come up to neck and they feel cozier. But I do like that the collar is surrounded with a soft cotton like material.
And finally the shade of yellow is quite nice, it’s not neon but is still reflective, true to the color in the picture, and someone would have to be blind to not see it.
In conclusion, I’ve spent winters prior improvising with multiple layers clothing, wind jackets, and the sort. One of things I hate about cycling is that things are so expensive. Yet, it’s like you can make do with others stuff easily but now and then again it just makes since to go easy rout and get what works. The jacket keeps me from the need to add restrictive extra layers to keep warm. I give this jacket a 9.5, and knock ½ a point for the awkward feeling collar.

As a year round bike commuter, I wear this jacket a lot. It's bomb-proof enough to keep the elements out but light enough so I'm not a sweaty mess when I get where I'm going. Big pocket in back really helps for carrying other warm clothes if necessary.

I've worn this in warm drizzling rain, in cold windy
sunny weather, in cold rain, paired with a dry wick base layer, and a mid-weight fleece, I can monitor my temp. perfectly. I love the lack of hand pockets, I have gloves for those, anything else goes in the pack, which by the way is comfortable as ever, because this jacket fits perfectly and has no bulk.
This jacket definitely keeps the rain out.
Buy it and Love it.

First look at this jacket, and you see quality in the construction and design. I actually have been commuting a lot with this jacket lately because it has been cold and rainy (winter is on its way). After some time now, I wish it had some low set hand warmer pockets. I think mostly because I am so used to putting my hands in those kind of pockets while standing around. It's not critical, but I find it annoying when I keep reaching for pockets that aren't there. Just adding that feature would make it more user friendly. Has nice size reflective material in the elbo area. Could use more reflective piping over all.

I've used this jacket for the last two years on my daily 20 mile commute here in the NW.
It's not cheap but it's the best I have found. Most durable where's the best long lasting. Keeps you dry!

I like this jacket a lot. It offers quite good protection against the rain. The yellow color is impressively visible -- and a welcome change from Pearl Izumi lime/yellow. Though only a shell, it also works well against the cold, even with only a minimal under-layer. Though of less importance, it also happens to look great as a casual jacket. The jacket is also roomy enough to support a thermal under-jacket without feeling tight. There are a few downsides -- not wildly significant, but enough to knock this from five stars to four. The downsides are: 1) somewhat stiff fabric that gives jacket a bulky feel. That said, the jacket still folds up quite small.2) not enough velcro on cuffs. It's hard to get a good tight cinch around bare wrists, though it is easy to get good closure over winter cycling glove cuffs.3) zipper. my first jacket was aberrant. the zipper had two initial states: one that resulted in a secure, successful zip; the other that resulted in an ephemeral zip that had the zipper coming undone about three minutes later.[...]

I bought this sight unseen due to the excellent reviews. I am 6 feet tall and ordered an XL. When the jacket arrived it BARELY went past my belly button. Many cycling jackets run tiny and this one is no exception. I'm not sure what REALLY tall people do.
The jacket looked well made and well thought out, but due to its proportions I had to take it back.

Best jacket. Wear it over a T-Shirt in summer. And in the winter wear it over a warm fleece. The jacket has great under arm vents, you can also adjust the wrist straps to accommodate gloves.
