      For aging boomers, the big numbers are the selling point. Try finding those in a comparably priced watch. Others have big digits, but try their functionality and you're back to tried and true Timex.

      The chrono gets used for runs, swims, rides, and burning meat on the grill. The interval timers are great for long runs with 1 minute walk increments. The countdown timer is good for power naps unless you use the repeat function and take 5 naps in a row. The multiple alarms are good for getting your tired butt outa bed at oh dark thirty.

      Watch out for similar Timex models (the date is always BELOW the big digit time) that look sleeker, but have straps that once they become unattached from the watch body, there's no fixing them.

      Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

        This is the best watch I've found for training. The 100 lap chrono allows you to store multiple workouts, the repeating timer reminds you to eat/drink, the LARGE numbers can be seen with fogged goggles, good strap . . . I love this watch so much I keep replacing it every time it breaks. I bought one at another store and the chrono froze up after two weeks. I returned it, got my money back and went to REI thinking a different lot would work. The chrono on the new watch froze two months later at the swim start of a half iron! It's replacement was recently replaced about a year later due to another chrono problem. There'd been water in the watch for a few months and I knew it was just a matter of time.

        But REI has been exceptional. The store is local, so I'll keep replacing this free of charge until timex gets it right or I find a watch that has the same features.

        This watch has great features, just make sure you keep your receipt.

        Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

        Great watch, this is my only watch now. I used it
        on my 7,000 mile Harley ride this year. Easy to read. It took a lot of abuse.

            I rinsed my watch off under tap water and and the lense is now perminantly fogged up. Not a bad watch but don't ever get it wet, and certainly don't swim with it.
