Comments about Mountain Hardwear Windstopper Vest - Men's:
I have had this vest for a number of years and it has done whatever I hoped it would. I have worn it under layers as well alone over a fleece shirt in cooler weather and it has done the job.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Windstopper Vest - Men's:
This is a great jacket let down by a design flaw. I saw many people talking about how the jacket was too short but thought "That's OK, I'll just buy a size above what I need".
I'm 6ft tall and just under 150lbs and the Medium is both too wide and too short. Even when just standing upright the jacket will ride up to above my belt line and the second I bend over, it's half way up my back. Of course, this makes it absolutely useless on a bike. I don't know how this problem can come about.
I've also found it doesn't breathe too well which is expected from a windstopper but just be aware.
It's an awesome jacket where it fits but you really should only buy one of these if most people describe you as short and dumpy.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Windstopper Vest - Men's:
My last one was stolen from my car at a trailhead on a hot day. So I'm back for another! I'm going to say this is an essential piece of gear. I worked at ski resort near the self-proclaimed "icebox of the nation" (-30 degree mornings weren't uncommon) and this vest made a very noticeable difference when used as a layer between my fleece and shell. Since it kept my core warmer, the rest of my body felt the benefit without the penalty of restricted movement that a layer of sleeves over my arms would incur. Also, when things started heating up later on in the day I could pack my shell and go with the vest outside the fleece liner and be completely comfortable. It was great over a t-shirt in the spring too... It's just a great vest, and now that the air is getting a little crisp again I'm back to buy another!

This vest blocks wind like a lead door but with the weight of a feather! The fabric is a little stiff but that has not bothered me. Be cautioned, the fit is an athletic cut so if you're not comfortable with a vest that fits snugly, there may be better options for you.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Windstopper Vest - Men's:
Love this vest - it seems to block the wind well, and keeps the torso warm; great under a shell. Others have noted that size can be an issue: I agree. I'm 5'8" and stocky; normally wear a large, but the large was too tight and too short. The XL fits me well except the arm openings are too loose and let in some wind. Highly recommend you try it on before buying to see if the fit is acceptable to you.

Very nice vest.
I had to goto Minnesota for three weeks in January. It was -10. I have some good layering pieces but being from Texas they do better in temps closer to freezing rather than -10. I got off the plane and went right to REI by MOA.
Gave me that extra warmth on hikes and was casual enough to wear to the office.
It sizes well and I can wear just a light shirt, or several layers under it. I combine this with some Capiline, some fleece and a DIAD or or Optimus jacket and stay warm on a hike.
The windproof factor is a plus as I'll often use this over a lightweight Activent windbreaker for a 35 degree day.
Thumbs up MH on this one!

A sturdy well-made vest that's great for retaining core heat on cold days. Such a nice fit that it's easy to forget it's on. Quality zipper. Retains that new look even after many washings.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Windstopper Vest - Men's:
My gf got me this vest earlier this year, and I've found that it's one of the best I've had. A little on the small side (the large I have feels more like a medium with other vests), is great as a layer under my ski jacket on cold days, or for hiking, or even just on its own on mild days. Very breathable and durable, able to resist light rain. One of my favorites.

Great vest, quite warm. Perfect at temperatures less than 65F. protects from wind very well. close fit, can wear no more than a silk weight base layer and a shirt underneath.
I've only had it for 6 months, so i have not seen really poor conditions. However i did wear it in Sausalito, CA during a picnic right on the SF Bay. that day the conditions were pretty bad. 15 - 25 MPH winds, high 50s - low 60s, misty drizzle. The South Bay that day was 70F - 80F.
I only had a MH wicked tee, convertible pants, and the MH vest. I was cool, but ok. other people were wearing thick casual jackets, no windstopper, and were bundling up in blankets. I was cooking at the bbq and fine. great product.
