    The lasagna was tasty and filling. I would agree with the authenticity comment from above. Heartburn??? You bet. The only downside is the cheese cleanup. I had no brillo. However, the leftover cheese could reinforce the sides of your tent that would make that third pig jealous. Shasta bound..May 08.

        This was our second favorite meal of a 7-day backpack trip in which we tried most of the Mountain House flavors. Quantity was just right. General comments about Mountain House meals: After a few meals we started adding a bit more water than the instructions called for, and let the meals "sit" longer than the instructions said, and that improved the consistency. The meals started out very hot (it helped to have a bandana to use to insulate our hands from the hot package), and stayed warm almost to the end of the meals -- we were eating in temperatures in the mid 50's. We added a bit of olive oil to each meal, thinking that might improve the flavor and add calories.

          This freeze dried meal is delicious! the meat is not the tenderest, but as it sat it got even better. this easily rivals the frozen lasagna bought at the grocery store- not quite up to par with moms lasagna. I'm about to buy a bunch of these just to keep around the house and a couple in the car.

              I usually pack items like rice or zatarains with packaged chicken, etc, etc. So I have never really considered freeze dried meals (I mean how good could they possibly be in comparison to the other?) I ordered one of these to try it out. I must say I was very pleasantly surprised! It was extremely flavorful. I almost couldn't tell that I was eating lasagna from a bag and not stouffer's on a plate. The only thing I can see being a bit of a turn off for some is that my spoon got really cheesy (but you are not going to hear me complain about it). At least one of these will be going with me on all my trips for a long time to come.

                  This was delicious and filling. It was almost too much food! The other reviews about the cheese sticking to your fork are true, but I just kept my fork in my mouth longer! It was really fine. Seriously, my fork was probably in my mouth another ten minutes after I was done with my dinner, but it got clean, and the meal was really so yummy. MMMMM....pretty close to homemade!

                      I was surprised by how cheesy this dish was, and by how much beef was in there! In fact, it was so authentically lasagne-like, that it gave me a bit of indigestion. Just like the real thing.. :)
