The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Byer Amazonas MicroRope:
I borrowed these from a friend for backpacking and found the system to be functional, but not really dialed in. If you aren't familiar with how to use the toggles, it will take a little getting used to, but anyone who knows how to tie jam-free knots will do fine.
What I don't like about this setup is the damage you can do to trees. I typically hike in pine-covered areas, some of which have been superficially damaged by fire. Rope really cuts into the bark, exposing the bare wood underneath. Any tree with loosely-held bark is also at risk.
Instead, I use 1.5" nylon web slings and a couple of carabiners. When set up properly, this gives you much better slip control, and won't damage bark (you still have to be careful about selecting the right trees).
If you are able to find good hardwood stands, then this is probably not a bad choice. But be mindful of potential damage to the flora.

Comments about Byer Amazonas MicroRope:
I love the idea of this product. Of course you could just by some rope and do the same thing. I found it a bit difficult to adjust the metal pin but once it was set it was very secure. One plus was that if you are setting it up in the same spot everytime it is a very quick and easy set up. This is where the product really shined.

They seem to work, I didn't fall during my nap in my hammock. The only down side is that there are no instructions on how to properly set it up.

Comments about Byer Amazonas MicroRope:
If you wrap this around a tree the right way - you won't have to worry about damaging bark. Even though I always forget how I did it last time - I am always able to wrap it around and pop the metal toggle through the loop at the end (shortening up the line through the toggle) so that I can hang my hammock, knot free, securely and easily when I am backpacking or camping. Never mess with knots again - this thing is brilliant!

Worked ok for my boys (8 and 12 heavyest 75lbs)
Some compression of bark, I suspect damage might result if an adult used it. Too bad I like the simple tightener. Im now looking into woopy loops.
slap straps work well.

Comments about Byer Amazonas MicroRope:
My buddy found these and they are awesome. You do need to look at the setup instructions, but once you figure it out, it is extremely easy to setup. I had struggled for years with knots getting over tightened on my hammock and this did the trick. Simple design and it stuffs in with my hammock.

Comments about Byer Amazonas MicroRope:
I strung the hammock out side between two pines and the micro rope slowly slipped. My test was put on hold until later that night and was forced to be tested in my basement. I reread the directions for the micro rope and realized that I did not use the rope correctly. The instructions are on the back of the packaging. Once the rope was being used properly the hammock held fine and was comfortable. You could more than likely make a rig like this on your own for 5 bucks cheaper but i didn't bother with that. I splurged.

I originally intended to purchase the Eno slap straps which were sold out but these are great. Good length and strength. They also pack into my Eno Double Nest bag which is nice.

Comments about Byer Amazonas MicroRope:
After reading the instructions and setting it up once, I never had to do so again - even months later, very easy to remember. Very easy to use, lightweight, and strong. Haven't noticed any damage to trees.
The ends of the rope did begin to split-fray, but being plastic, I used a lighter to melt/burn the ends solid. Problem solved.
